326 new affordable homes. 200 supportive apartments. One community transformed. We're proud to celebrate the ribbon cutting of Star Hill Phase I in Morris Heights, The Bronx — a $189 million development that is changing lives. Built on a site with over a century of history, Star Hill now offers permanent, affordable housing with wraparound supportive services for New Yorkers overcoming homelessness and substance use disorders. As one resident put it: "Anything could be possible. It happened to me." This is what happens when purpose meets partnership. Thank you to our co-developers Bronx Pro Group and Services for the UnderServed, our partners at NYC HPD, NYS OASAS, Enterprise Community Partners, JP Morgan, and every elected official and community leader who believed in the Bronx. Under Governor Kathy Hochul's $25 billion housing plan, @NYSHCR has created or preserved more than 68,000 affordable homes across New York State — and we are just getting started. Welcome home, Star Hill residents. #AffordableHousing #SupportiveHousing #TheBronx #WelcomeHome #HousingIsAHumanRight #NewYorkState #EndHomelessness #MorrisHeights #StarHill #NYSHousing @NYCHousing @NYSOASAS @jpmorgan @sus_org @GovKathyHochul

New York is a city built on resilience, grit and second chances. That’s why I’m honored to host the 2026 Dinner for a Better New York in support of @SUS_org, an organization helping New Yorkers find housing, recovery, stability and hope. This mission is deeply personal to me. I know the power of having someone reach out a hand when you need it most. If you can’t attend, please consider donating. Arctic cold will grip the region Monday and Tuesday. Monday will be the coldest day since February, and the cold will be severe enough to damage exposed skin in minutes. Stay indoors if possible and keep time outside to a minimum. Dress in layers and cover all exposed skin. Watch for frostbite, which appears as numbness or pale or waxy skin. Watch for hypothermia, which appears as shivering, confusion, or drowsiness. Call 911 if you see these symptoms. Use heating equipment safely. Never use stoves, ovens, kerosene heaters, or grills to heat your home. Report heat or hot water outages to your landlord, then call 311 if they are not resolved. NYC law requires minimum indoor temperatures from October 1 through May 31. Daytime at least 68°F when it is below 55°F outside. Nighttime at least 62°F. Hot water at least 120°F year-round.

We joined community leaders, residents, and partners to cut the ribbon at Starhill Phase I, marking a major milestone in bringing more affordable housing, supportive services, and new opportunities to the Bronx. Starhill Phase I in Morris Heights represents: ➡️ Over 300 new homes for families and individuals who need them most ➡️ Affordable, safe, and quality housing for our most vulnerable residents in the West Bronx and City of New York ➡️ On-site holistic support services that promote long-term stability and wellness ➡️ A model of positive, community-centered development helping to combat our city’s housing crisis I’m especially proud that Starhill Phase I is a part of our Jerome Avenue Neighborhood Plan commitments from our City Council tenure. Thank you to Governor Kathy Hochul, Mayor Eric Adams, HCR, OASAS, HPD, our financial partners, and the incredible team who led this effort at Bronx Pro Real Estate Group and SUS (Services for the Underserved). Congratulations to the new residents and families of Starhill Phase I.

Today, on Purple Heart Day, we honor all U.S. Veterans who were wounded or gave their lives in combat. Established by General George Washington on Aug. 7, 1782, as the Badge of Military Merit, it remains the oldest military decoration still awarded to American service members.
