My story has so many similarities to Jen Hatmaker’s, but we’re in very different places with our relationship with Jesus - at least at the moment. I wrote a little about how that happened. There’s so much more to my story, but this is a start.

Glad to finally get my hands on a physical copy of this. Don’t be fooled by @chuckdegroat ‘s seemingly gentle, kind demeanor. This is a dangerous, disruptive book, the kind some people will be afraid to read. Which is precisely why they should do it anyway. Review coming soon…

If you’re planning Advent, I have a couple slots left for speaking in December. Have had some really beautiful events around this book over the last couple seasons. DM me!
Heaven and Nature Sing: 25 Advent Reflections to Bring Joy to the World by @sometimesalight hardcover: $15.48 “This is a beautiful book in every sense: poetically written, richly illustrated, and thoughtfully conceived. Weaving together the physical meaning of creation with the spiritual meaning of Christmas, Hannah and Nathan Anderson reveal the ways in which Advent is enacted all around us, in pine trees and snowfall, holly and sap. Joy to the world, indeed!”  – @AJWTheology, author and teaching pastor at King’s Church London purchase link: amazon.com/Heaven-Nature-Sin…

Co- and I cannot say it strongly enough signed.
This might be the first time I’ve ever watched an Apple ad that made me actively not want to buy the product

"When we see a man risk himself to care for another person, that’s courage. The legal judgment may be uncertain, but the moral verdict is already in. On the most traumatic night in a young woman’s life, a good man could not be found." -- @DavidAFrench nytimes.com/2026/10/11/opini…

I've never spoken at @yow_conf before, and @swimflythrive and I are really looking forward to being down under for this. The lessons from this particular history are hard to find, but that's not gonna stop us from finding them!
Everyone's talking about the AI revolution. @tlberglund wants to take a step back in his #YOW26 keynote & look at the ideas and technologies that brought us here - from the early days of AI research through neural networks & transformers to today's generative AI boom...

what the artificial intelligence consciousness debate shows is that deep down tech bros just want to be humanities graduate students

The Pope/Anthropic thing shouldn’t overshadow this other terrible development. TLDR: Evangelical innovation under the guise of mission is as old as the Tower of Babel, and just as bad.
Translating Tim Keller’s sermons: good idea. Translating Tim Keller’s sermons using AI: okay idea Translating Tim Keller’s sermons in his own voice using AI: terrible, horrible, no good, very bad idea

1/ We arrived at this ontological inflation of the machine exactly through ontological deflation of the human. You've undergone the long arc of the Western reduction of the soul to code so now you think code has a soul. The deflation & inflation are two sides of the same coin.
NEW: According to a bombshell report in the New York Times, Anthropic co-founder Chris Olah threatened to walk out of Pope Leo XIV’s AI encyclical launch in May because the pope rejected the idea that machines can be conscious. Olah’s team then privately lobbied the pope’s advisers “to take the possibility of model consciousness seriously.” Pope Leo XIV held firm. For months, Anthropic has wined and dined theologians and religious scholars under nondisclosure agreements, hoping they would bless the idea that Claude has moral standing. thelettersfromleo.com/p/nyt-…

I don’t know how Crusades work, precisely, but if the Pope called for the sacking of Silicon Valley solely for its hubris … we’d have to at least hear him out, right?
Even as a non-religious person, I personally cringe at the hubris required to personally tell the Pope that you think your company has created an ensouled being, thus rendering Anthropic equivalent to God the creator. Further, that you did it for profit and it is now enslaved.

Tech bros discovering the pope is, in fact, Catholic.
Note well, apparently Anthropic tried very hard to get the Vatican to alter the text of "Magnifica Humanitas" just prior to its release so that it would not deny AI personhood.

I don’t know what’s ahead regarding the allegations that led to the arrests of Seth & Heather Day. They have the right in this country to be heard by a jury and tried in court. But I know this: There’s one fiercely brave girl who defied the odds, broke the family code, marched her bruised body forward and TOLD. God bless that child, heal that child, restore that child and raise that child into one astonishingly mighty woman of faith.

If you've been quietly grieving and trying to make sense of this story, this is a helpful and enlightening perspective from an experienced criminal attorney, examining and interpreting the different charges the Days face.
I’ve read the arrest affidavits in the Heather Thompson Day / Seth Day case. Here’s what you need to know: shorturl.at/wiqCB

This Substack essay deserves to be more viral than the video that spawned it. What a remarkable mom and dad, and what a remarkable portrait of a loving marriage. Everyone should read this; it is truly encouraging.
The comments section and TikTok commentariat did their thing shaming a dad at a Giants for eating while his wife dealt with one of their kids. His wife has now posted a rebuttal: themomoftheyear.substack.com…

Reading this beautifully written @nytimes piece by Amanda Hess on a former tradwife influencer's journey, and wondering what the conversation might have been like if the writer for the @WIRED piece on @emlwaters had made the same kinds of choices. nytimes.com/2026/09/24/style…

Counterpoint: Theobros shouldn’t be on social media or at least there’s some competent woman screening their content, a wall garden situation if you will, only home repair projects & golden retriever videos.
Christian nationalist pastor Brian Sauvé says women should not have access to social media unless "some competent man is curating and blocking and directing and taking a look at what's going on." peoplefor.org/rightwingwatch…

Griffin wins.
You know, it’s actually helpful at this point to realize that the new Narnia movie is not actually Chronicles of Narnia. It’s its own movie, which is an interpretation of Lewis’s novels. It’s like how Avatar is actually Pocahontas.
