Not content to let his legacy be one of shame, ignominy and defeat, Chuck Schumer prepares to lead one last defeat of his party in 2028
NEW: Chuck Schumer is preparing to lead the Senate with a network of former aides lobbying for private equity—including two former policy chiefs and his top health adviser. Their clients include Blackstone, Apollo, and the industry’s top trade group. readsludge.com/2026/11/06/th…

me when he calls Feeling Good a Michael Bublé song
Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the opportunity Democrats now have to support Latino New Yorkers feels like “a Michael Bublé song” given the party’s new majority. “It's a new day, it's a new dawn,” he says. “It is a real opportunity for us.”

Mamdani getting elected and spending a year on extremely popular projects helped Dems everywhere imo. He was supposed to be on the new Mount Rushmore of scary liberals. Saw him on lots of attack mailers. Didn't scare people at all. When I sat down w Mamdani during the 2025 primary he said his model was Bernie in Burlington - the "ooh, scary socialist" mayor who capitalizes on all the attention he gets and makes civic improvements so it stops being scary. And so far that's clearly worked. semafor.com/article/06/12/20…

In many ways, Tuesdays electoral victories are the final convergence of two enormously important historical trends for the American left: the 1999 WTO protests in Seattle, and Barack Obama’s 2004 DNC speech.

Nuance aside, one way to look at last night is to say that the entire country resoundingly rejected everything the tech world has come to stand for. You can grieve, you can rage, you can fight, you can move to space, or you can grapple with that.

Abolishing the electoral college by way of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact wouldn’t be a bad way to start 2027.

May every city suffering under fascist, repressive political conditions have the same experience. May the Mamdani-effect ripple across our country and into 2028 when my congresswoman becomes our next president.
Austin Texas sounds like an Eastern European city that just overthrew a dictator

Honking and cheers in downtown Austin so loud we can hear it from the 17th floor. Feels like a revolution just took place.

In 1972, 54 years ago, Bernie Sanders filed his first campaign spending report. Here it is. $40 on gas, for the entire campaign.
I am so happy that Bernie Sanders is with us today to be able to see the fruits of his labor. He cultivated a whole generation of young leaders through the movement he spawned who are now winning seats everywhere. And he gets to live to witness it. Thank you, Bernie.

The DSCC placed a multimillion dollar ad buy for Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in her 13-point loss. Chuck Schumer personally sent a $1 million infusion to Val Demmings in her 16-point loss. DSA member Angie Nixon got no such support.
