For a decade Paolo and I built @nextflowio. Today we’re launching Nextflow Frontier, a closed-loop discovery system for the unsolved problems in life sciences.
We spent ten years making experiments reproducible. Now we are making them abundant.

New side project! I decided to pull all of my favourite features for code blocks together into a single plugin for #Astro #Starlight. Things got a bit out of hand and it now has 26 different features.
Hope it's helpful for folks! 🌟

It's been a little while, but the #Nextflow #Podcast is back! Check out episode 58 to hear all about writing and publishing #plugins.
We covered plugins way back in ep 38, but so much has changed since then that we felt like the topic deserved a re-run!
🎙️ New Nextflow Podcast Episode: Writing Nextflow Plugins in 2026!
This one is all about Nextflow Plugins. @tallphil is joined by Jon Manning, Rike Hanssen, and Ben Sherman to discuss the world of extending core Nextflow functionality.

We're delighted to have contributed case studies to @OpenAI's report on scientific computing in the age of agentic AI. Alongside @altos_labs, we discuss agent-assisted rewrites of RNA-seq QC tools, built for @nextflowio and @nf_core.
Coding agents are helping scientists spend more time advancing research, taking on everything from routine maintenance and targeted optimization to complete redesigns and new systems.
While agents can reliably execute on ambitious projects, researchers must still define the scientific questions, verify results, and take a stance on long-term ownership.
It was fun being invited to contribute a case study to this @OpenAI preprint + blog 😊
I think it ended up a really nice overview, an interesting cross-section of how multiple people are approaching similar problems...💡

Only ONE WEEK left to submit your talk abstract for the online #NextflowSummit in October! 📅🔥
Get those abstracts in quick! 😅
🎤 The #NextflowSummit returns on Oct 13-14, and we're looking for speakers to share their experience using #Nextflow for scalable, reproducible analysis.🌎 Submit your talk abstract by July 24 to share your work with global community. 🔗 hubs.la/Q04pMXB30
I'm very happy to say that we now have new tools for @nextflowio log files in the #CLI and #VSCode extension!
Try it out with the latest Nextflow edge release (26.05.0-edge) after a run:
$ nextflow logfile
Or open a log in VSCode with the Nextflow extension installed ✨🌈
Nextflow log files are great for debugging, but digging through 1000s of debug lines to find an error can be difficult.🧵 That's why we've introduced native log viewers in the Nextflow CLI and VS Code extension.

New in @seqera.io #Containers: you can now edit the #conda environment.yaml directly to control how your container is built. 📦 📄 ✍️
The UI also shows how to do the same with the Wave CLI in your terminal ✨
Short demo: youtu.be/DkRgor8Mx4A
There are a few use cases for this, but the example shows a common one: a MultiQC release had a Bioconda bug fix under the same version number, so the normal request returned the cached image.
Editing the YAML lets you pin the exact build you want, generating a fresh image.. ✨
Check out seqera.io/containers for the tool and let us know what you think!

I finally gave in and wrote myself an
@elgato #StreamDeck to do "fake typing" for demo videos.
You can "type" preset texts (long-press for alt., also cycle or print random) and make it look more Human with delays, randomness and even typos 😅

Had a lot of fun hacking with this over the past few days (it went through multiple variations!)
Thanks to @vldsavelyev for doing the initial refactoring work under the hood in #MultiQC and wiring up Pydantic, and starting the first version of config wizard 🎉
