ALT Women Blamed For Great War in Book By Austrian Writer PARIS, Nov 12 -- Women caused the world war. This is the startling conclusion arrived at in the latest literary sensation of Europe. "Men in War" by Andreas Lasko which is causing furore surpassing that when Barbusse's famous book "Under Fire" was published & ran 200 editions. "Men in War" written by an officer fighting in the Austrian army, shows that on the other side of the border sentiments were just as strongly against the horrors of war as in the entente. But Lasko has added a special point to his criticism by laying the blame on the women. "The cruelest part of it all," he writes, "was the attitude of the women. That was the surprise, the terrible surprise! To think that they were so horribly strong, were able to smile, to throw flowers, to give, yes, give their husbands children. To that that they sent us over there, if they hadn't let us pile into the trains... not a man would have gone!" --Akron Evening Times, 12 Nov 1920
