On China giving the Global South a reason to see the multipolar project as just another form of domination. Every time China doesn't take the bait, that alliance structure frays a little more. Every year of Chinese growth while the confrontation-that-never-quite-materializes continues, another country does the math about which relationship is more materially valuable. Beijing is not being weak. Beijing is executing a strategy so patient and so disciplined that people who think in news cycles literally cannot perceive it as a strategy. They see inaction. They are watching a game being won.
