when i received my BPD diagnosis my psych told me he wasnt going to add it to my record unless i insisted upon it because it would be used against me for the rest of my life & there was no explicit treatment for it that would require the diagnosis to obtain.

saw someone say bpd is highly treatable. tell that to every therapist that has told me not to bring that up in sessions. tell that to the two therapists who straight up refused to treat me after seeing the diagnosis. y'all are woefully ignorant about how bpd patients are treated.

the crazy thing about BPD is how you'd think you could rely on other people with it, but split in front of them one (1) time and suddenly it's all about how they manage their symptoms better and don't make "excuses" without ever considering that some people's is more severe

i do think really the insidious idea this trope puts into people's minds is tying women to the orthodoxy of a discipline and positioning the male protagonist as the necessary challenge to tradition when it's often the other way around in real life
