Out of the 2,100 pilots that are licensed in Nigeria, how many of them are actively flying? The last time I checked, there were approximately 500 unemployed pilots. There are more pilots, fewer airplanes. Air Peace used to have over 20 operational airplanes, however, 17 have been grounded for maintenance issues. It currently has less than 10 airplanes in service. Arik in its hey days used to have approximately 30 airplanes, now it has less than 10 and it’s still struggling. This contributes to the unemployment rate.
Out of the 39 registered airlines, less than 15 are currently in service operating scheduled flights and considering the poor state of the economy, they are virtually running at financial losses. You will never know because they are private companies and you have no access to their financial books. Some airlines came and left. In recent times, we’ve seen new entrants go out of business. Medview started scheduled flights in 2012 and became a public traded company some time in 2015. It stopped operations in 2019. Dana started flying in 2008 and by 2023, it was sent out of business by the government because of its poor financial health. First Nation flew in 2011 but by 2018, it was out of business. Azman started flying in 2014 but ceased operations last year. Afrijet flew in 2008 but stopped in 2009.
The total number of active registered aircraft operated by all the airlines in Nigeria are not up to 100.
As for the national carrier, so all the money put into the project has entered the bush? Considering the current state of the Nigerian airline industry and bearing in mind that none of the airlines in Nigeria have the capacity to reciprocate the BASAs entered into by the government, I don’t blame those advocating for a national carrier. However, the era of national carriers are gone. The major flag carriers around the world are no longer controlled by the government with the exceptions of the Middle East and Africa.
The economy drives the aviation industry. For Nigeria’s aviation industry to grow beyond what it is today, a lot has to be done one the Nigerian economy. Secondly, the issue of inter connectivity within Africa needs to be addressed. It’s ridiculous that you have to pay close to a million to travel within Africa.
As far as aviation finance is concerned, we’ve seen substantial improvements in the implementation of the Cape Town convention. With the new federal high court practice directions in 2024, lessors now have it easier to repossess their airplanes in event an airline defaults in its lease obligations. This will now make it easier for airlines to lease their airplanes.
The new aviation regulations on setting up airlines in Nigeria increased the total number of aircraft needed for a start up airline to obtain an AOC from 3 to 6. Although the intention of the new regulation is intended to create strong airlines with financial stability and fleet stability, however, it has to be stated that there’s nowhere in the world that start up airlines are required to have at least 6 airplanes. In fact many of the international airlines today didn’t start with 6 airplanes.
The issue of weak corporate governance in the management of the airlines in Nigeria also needs to be addressed as well. The airlines in Nigeria are not well run like proper businesses. They are glorified Nigerian bus companies.
Lastly, I like the fact that the federal government wants to invest in new airport infrastructure especially that of Lagos. The airport needs a new look.

When they pick this one up now, he will start to cry oppression. A lot of these people like this person on this app don’t think of the unintended consequences of whatever they post. If they ask you to provide evidence of your claims, you will start stuttering.
Look, the madness you’re exhibiting for Obi, when you’re made to face the consequences, Obi will publicly deny you. He will say he doesn’t know you.
At least pity your parents, if you can’t pity yourself.
RED ALERT⚠️

In all the states Peter Obi won in 2023, he has replaced the Commissioners of Police with the ones who can mobilize thugs as police to rig 2027💔💔
Funny enough his supporters are running with it, defending what he said and insulting people who counter him on the bogus figure.
Poor depth knowledge of governance. Just doing name calling and reducing everything to loyalty tests.
The guy made a valid point. Instead of you to sit down and wonder why we’re always electing new presidents every election year nothing changes.
You expect people to vote for a ‘messiah’ without asking questions?
Multifaceted Osi…
Are you an agbado man?
If you are, Just say it.
You are not a child, neither am I.
A country should have the right to vote in and out based on performance.
So yes allow people to decide who they see as a Messiah…even if the messiah changes from time to time.
All this think tank you Dey do…if you are not contesting as President…just vote the current messiah who has integrity and stop acting like you know something no one else does.
Thanks and God bless Mr Mulitifacet!!

Our problems are deeper than who sits in Abuja.
You can vote billions to fight insurgency.
Then you have a governor who is funding terrorists in his state to make you look bad.
Replying to @Osi_Suave
It's not even about a messiah, you can't keep reelecting bad leaders. There is a reason the US just booted the GOP and the Dems would most likely win 2028. If you don't produce result you should lose the next election
Don't reward 12years of APC
First private university to own a flight school in Nigeria.
Baze University, Abuja, has acquired two brand-new Diamond DA40 aircraft for its aviation school in Bwari, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The institution owned by Senator Datti Baba-Datti intends to train at least 600 professionals in various specialised fields, including pilot training, air traffic control, and air rescue and firefighting, subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities.
The aviation school is being developed on a 92-hectare expanse of land in Bwari, with facilities planned to include an aerodrome measuring 1,800 metres in length and 30 metres in width, alongside an additional 15-metre shoulder and had reached approximately 50 per cent completion.
The University will make history as the first African university to own an aviation training facility of its kind, including aircraft and a dedicated campus.
You can be condescending all you want but your messiah will still lose the 2027 elections. Let’s even assume he wins in 2027, there’s no guarantee that you will be able to afford a kilogram of turkey.
If this is your basis for campaigning for him, then you’re not a serious person. No educated person will take you seriously.
If you want to talk condescendingly, make sure you talk intelligently. There’s nothing substantive or reasonable about what you wrote.
People are entitled not to support Obi for reasons best known to them. No amount of condescension, insults and emotional blackmail can change that.
You never chop turkey this year but you dey ask me make I explain give you why I think Peter Obi is a better candidate than Tinubu, who is the current president, and the reason you have not been able to afford turkey this year, or eat shawarma without feeling like you have made a financial mistake. Clòwn.

Voter education is honestly one of the hardest parts of democracy in Nigeria.
You will tell someone with the same voting rights as you that 1 + 1 = 2, and instead of engaging with your argument, they start attacking you.
You will hear statements like, “Go to the market and say this. They will beat you up and pour pepper on you.”
But even if they beat me up and pour pepper on me, 1 + 1 will still be 2.
Public outrage does not invalidate facts.
Here are my positions:
1. Fuel subsidy removal was necessary to address fiscal pressures and economic distortions.
2. Tax reforms were necessary to improve revenue generation and fiscal sustainability.
3. The President cannot be expected to perform the responsibilities of governors and local government chairmen. Each tier of government has its own constitutional duties.
We can debate the implementation and consequences of these reforms, but arguments should be based on evidence, not emotions or threats.
Democracy gives us equal voting rights, not equal understanding of governance.
Voter education must go beyond teaching people how to vote. It must teach them how government works and who to hold accountable.
Batists, Obidients and Seyi Makinde supporters will eat you raw. 🤣
Congratulations bro. @egi_nupe, na you do this one.

When people support Obi it is organic but when people support others or even ask for diplomacy and respect they are paid.
The irony is that there is evidence of Obidients making money off the movement. One day you'll come out of this shackle of hypocrisy.

Wait till when you have a complicated matter. Imagine you’re representing a lessor. The lessor lease an aircraft to an airline. The airline operates the aircraft to a country that’s at war. The war torn country seizes the aircraft or alternatively, the UN and EU banned flights from operating from that country with immediate effect. How would the lessor get his airplane back? Is the airline obligated to meet up with its lease obligations? Does insurance coverage apply to such situations?
Aviation finance and aircraft acquisition can be very complicated.
When I was in Nigeria, I did a presentation on aviation financing in the office where I worked and walked through the process of the means of acquiring an aircraft, the conventions and the laws governing the transaction and repossession in event of default. My boss had to call his other lawyers and made me redo the presentation. He felt the presentation
Not until after I had undergone a course in Aircraft Acquisition and Financing by @IATA at the Turkish Airlines Aviation Academy, Istanbul, Turkey 🇹🇷, that is when I knew that Aircraft is not something you can buy one off on a go even when you the cash 💰. A lot to learn in this career mahn. 🙏
Atiku polled 11.26m votes in 2019. Why did you leave him to vote for Obi that did not have that national spread? Or the structure at the time to vote for him? Who was Datti Baba Ahmed in 2023? What prior nationwide presidential electoral base did Datti Baba-Ahmed bring to Obi's ticket in 2023?
Do you see how ridiculous you sound?
