I used to be an alligator. When I was 19 years old, I worked on a retail furniture floor in Los Angeles. (Sleep City) By the time I left on Valentine’s Day 1973, I was not only the youngest salesman in the chain I was also THE top salesman out of about 50. But I had one rule. If someone interfered with me while I was in the middle of making a sale, I’d practically snap their head off. Not because I was mean. Because you don’t interrupt momentum. A customer goes from interested… to engaged… to ready. And one unnecessary interruption can break the entire rhythm. I learned something on that showroom floor over 50 years ago Momentum and Rhythm are precious. Whether you’re selling furniture, building a business, launching a startup, or creating a movement, momentum is one of the most valuable assets you’ll ever have. And the last thing you ever wanna do is break up momentum and rhythm. Once you create it, protect it. Because momentum compounds and rhythm moves. And if you’re lucky enough to catch it, don’t let anyone get in front of it. Now that's not something I discovered back then, that's something I discovered yesterday. But.... Maybe that’s where I first got my edge. 🌱
