Since it's youth football Jamboree day here's a message to all the football parents and coaches out there... Back in 2017, my 5th/6th grade youth football team went 0-8 No wins... lots of losses. In 2024/25 7 out of those 18 kids will play a college sport. I can't tell you how meaningless youth football is to your son's potential high school football career. Nothing truly happens until after puberty. Doesn't matter what "elite" organization you play for. Doesn't matter what town you play for. Doesn't matter if you're the best player or only play 10 plays. Doesn't matter how many times you go to Florida. Doesn't matter how many superbowls you win. The only thing that matters is that you have fun and learn to love the game. I've seen the best youth player quit in high school... I've seen heavy slow lineman become a stud high school running back. I've seen the monster kid just average size in high school. Do not care, do not compare... Learn skills... Have fun... Love the game... #football

Centrata, sicura. Ogni cosa al suo posto. E questo vale più di qualsiasi medaglia. Grazie Benny, una lezione di classe nel saper accettare una non-medaglia-sfiorata-per-un-soffio. Chapeau Foto Giorgio Scala e Andrea Masini/ DBM @DBM_Media

Signs of a good youth coach: Your players love the game even more at the end of the season; they’re more confident; they play to win but they treat their teammates -and others- with respect; they train on their own; they are all getting better; they don’t blame or make excuses.

Thing is…this is not football..this is a bunch of grow men who shouldn’t be around the game, who are living their failed dreams through kids. Way too many of them masquerading as coaches in youth football. These guys🤡, cannot teach the game so they do this kind of stuff w/kids
Will you let your son play football?

If you are a parent thinking about getting your kid into youth sports, please take my advice. Your kid is not elite. Don’t buy that grift. You’ll be happier (and maybe your kid will become really good) if your focus, first and foremost, is on your child having fun.

The Structure Is Toxic Everywhere Yet No One Wants To Change It And When A Change Is Offered 95% Can't Bear To Leave The System They Hate
My daughter has gone from being a soccer fanatic to not being sure if she wants to play any more after the summer season. The soccer structure in #yeg, like most of Canada, is so toxic. And @CanadaSoccerEN has to start addressing a culture that alienates so many kids.

Spot on! At these youngest ages children haven’t developed the ability to pay attention and listen. This is why isolating the child 1 on 1 with a parent in a safe protected area like the home is so crucial. This is where the child is starving for your attention, approval and praise. This is where the magic starts to happen when your child starts developing the ability to focus and pay attention. This is what it looks like.
Fair! I’m just looking at my two year old and thinking “there is no way she actually listens” hahaha

Ball Mastery, the key to unlocking player development where kids are engaged in deliberate practice, deep learning, longterm memory, all disguised as playtime. Time shared between a child and parent which is hard to get back. Wakeup, this is simple and sets a positive trajectory towards player development. And it’ costs nothing, but time!

This is my daughter Sophie Dennington - I’m so proud of her. She started reffing at 15 years old. She struggled so much in school and at age 13 she had the reading and spelling age of a 7 year old. With the help of her school she managed to pass her GCSE’s. She was diagnosed with Dyslexia but she still got her dream. She’s running the line for the FA Cup Womens Final! A message to all the young ref’s out there. You can do it if you put your mind and heart into something! ❤️ #TeamGrassroots #GRF
