I should post more, I certainly have the content it's just that only Beige Shiba gets to hear it nowadays because I need only take a few steps to see him.

Your stance that justice can only be achieved through an expensive elaborate ritual denies justice to the poor and weak. It is a stance that creates great evil no matter your intentions. RECONSIDER.

Can confirm, spent most of my adolescence defending the US to other anglos in the UK, NZ and so on. There is a deep resentment of the success of others.

This conversation is going to remain seared into my own imagination as the perfect example of death of discourse. Scenario: > Provocateur / Autist baits rightoid true-believers with something that seems like a simple question but really has a complicated answer > Sincere RW true believer says she'd like to respond but the answer is nuanced and she's tired of having her words twisted > Provocateur / Autist says "No really, come on I want to hear your answer" > Sincere RW true believer speaks from the heart alluding to intangibles and on the ground realities that are obvious put unprovable, makes references to nuanced considerations > Provocateur / Autist totally disregards nuance either our of autism or spite (I really can't tell which one), ignores context, demands nuance fit into arbitrary boxes, demands that the answer confront hypothetical ideas that have never exist ("what about the perfectly assimilated immigrant!") > Provocateur / Autist also unaware that her lack of understanding perfectly demonstrates the RW true believers original complaint > Sincere RW true believer says "forget it" > Provocateur / Autist "Why are RWers so afraid to answer my question???"

Daily reminder: Zach Weiner made a cartoon that perfectly encapsulated the core moral problem with “meritocracy based immigration” Then he unlearned that wisdom so he could illustrate a book for Bryan Caplan arguing FOR “meritocracy based immigration”.
Imagine your dad learns that another kid is scoring higher than you at school, so he starts inviting that kid over He plays catch with him in the yard, helps him with homework, buys him presents - and starts doing those things less for you That's "high skilled immigration"

She's playing it up for engagement but I wish I could explain to young guys that women weren't always...like this. Sure women have always been annoying but these little facial tics that are designed to provoke you to put your first through the nearest drywall--that's new.

. . . written about the problem AND some unspecified number of private attempts by professional mathematicians, possibly including your own work, and scoop you in a matter of days. That's bulls--t. It makes a mockery of mathematics. What are we even doing here?

Seriously, the more I think about this, the angrier I get. If a trillion-dollar company gets wind of the fact that you're close to a career-defining result, they can dispatch a team, equipped with a private model that has been trained on everything that's ever been publicly . . .

I am serious though, what is the point of talking about ideas if correct ideas can be discarded for being correct yet unheeded retroactively. How does this now just devolve into primitive tribesman unlearning? “The fire will not burn my hand when I touch it because you have not MADE me believe it!” We are slowly unlearning civilization.
‘You cannot say "People did not follow us," because if they didn't, that's your fault for not inspiring their trust.’ Anti-Christian RWers are reaching the 15-second African warlord understanding of historical agency at this stage.

Sooner or later we all have to face the paradox that one) most people are pretty decent two) enough people aren’t that it really matters and three) the dividing line isn’t fame, prominence, power or a lack of it. It’s malice or stupidity, and both are pervasive.

No but actually, if all the furries died we'd have some pretty serious problems in certain parts of our tech sector. There are... so many furries. Guys, you have no idea how many furries there are in tech, it's insane and scary and this exact post is going to travel through data centers manned (?) by furries. Our poasts are in their paws, as much as I wish it were not so.

The problem most couples face is this: The man is simply not as in tune with the needs of the house as the wife is (and cannot be), and fears to make the "wrong" decision. Women who wish to avoid this should work to allay his fears, not train him to "do it right."
Yeah this is accurate

I live this every day. Australia has higher rates of hypothermia death (indoor) than Sweden due to poor/no insulation. Our houses are practically rigid tents and boomers built them. We tie with Canada for most expensive housing market but Canadian houses have better construction.
There's no way boomers are thrifty. Their idea of thrift is at best DIY that results in massive costs due to poor work. xitter.cf/GMShivers/status/20047…

Stereotype accuracy is literally one of the largest, most replicated, most reliable findings in the history of social psychology.

most people would do a lot better in their job if they weren't just listening in for some way to cram their idea into the mix in the most sarcastic and complicated way possible. You want to get ahead? Uncomplicate someone's life

While I agree with this to a point, it will be short lived as I do think the expertise will bubble up from younger generations having to go into self employment as a way of testing/filtering and entering the workforce 10x more understanding of how a business runs. A big part of why no one wants to hire inexperienced people right now is the bizarre knowitalism by people with no understanding outside of what their hands do. Jobs used to be I'm an engineer, I need someone to do my data entry/catalog, write instructions on my tools to sell them to clients, help file my patents etc so that I can do more engineering. Now you hire an inexperienced person and they immediately fly off the handle about some issue that has nothing to do with engineering and how engineers and the people funding the products are bad and wrong acsually and the inexperienced person knows better. This also happens with hiring older people experienced in a world that no longer exists, they are the same type of person. A lot of people do not understand that the entire purpose of many jobs is to in fact, uncomplicate another person's job that generates revenue, by doing 1-2 things that cause snags in the process and instead insist on becoming the snag themselves. They create complicated structures around employing them, and it's besides the point. The more complicated your situation is, the more you have to be a producer and not in a simplifier position. Nothing will cure you of that bs like being self employed.
This paper gives a fancy name to a problem you can already feel in your bones "The Tragedy of the Cognitive Commons." Checking AI output requires deep expertise. Deep expertise comes from doing grunt work for years. And grunt work is the first thing AI eats So we're building systems that need expert supervision while dismantling the only known process for making experts The paper calls the shared pool of human expertise the "cognitive commons." Every profession drinks from it. Nobody's refilling it. By eliminating junior roles, each company is acting totally rationally, and the collective result: a profession that can't catch AI's mistakes anymore because it never learned to do the work in the first place Who checks AI's homework in 15 years?
