Dan Patrick wants to decide what you’re allowed to put in your own body.
In 2025 he championed Senate Bill 3, a ban on most hemp-derived THC products in Texas. When the House offered regulation instead, he refused to budge. “We’re going to ban it,” he said.
Governor Abbott vetoed the ban. Patrick called the veto an attempt to legalize recreational cannabis and kept pushing through the special sessions that followed. Every attempt failed. His answer? His position remains unchanged. He still wants a total ban.
Think about what that ban would wipe out. A $5.5 billion Texas industry. Thousands of legal, licensed small businesses. Farmers who planted hemp because the Legislature said they could. Texans who testified that these products help them manage pain, seizures, and appetite.
Texans don’t want this. Half of Texas voters oppose banning consumable hemp products. Only about a third support it.
This is what happens when one man controls the Senate calendar. His crusade becomes the state’s agenda, whether voters agree or not.
Adults can make their own choices. Check IDs, go after bad actors, and enforce the laws already on the books. You don’t need to destroy an entire industry to do that.
Dan Patrick is on the ballot November 3. Remember who tried to take this away.

People who had ever used cannabis tended to have larger brain volume in key areas that are full of natural cannabis-like receptors (especially the hippocampus, amygdala, caudate, and putamen – these areas are important for memory, emotions, learning, and movement).
The more cannabis someone had used in their lifetime, the larger these brain areas were and the better they performed on tests of learning, processing speed, and short-term memory.
