U.S. Central Command forces have begun launching a series of powerful strikes against Iran to impose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping crewed by innocent civilians in an international waterway. The U.S. strikes are in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s demonstrated aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire.

I see what appear to be just a few subtle words added to his demands to join his government that will likely enlarge the opposition tent. Likely he will be able to form a government. That is good because the alternative is an overtly racist, extremely violent and expansionistic, dying Israel. No one in the world can continue to partner with that kind of a government, and it's neighbors would have to bear most of the cost.

اكتسبت تجربة أحمد الشرع في سوريا زخماً شعبياً عربياً كاسحاً في الأيام الأولى لتحرير دمشق, زخماً قومياً ودينياً, فضلاً عن عمق قبلي وعشائري عربي, تجاوز حدود سوريا وفتح أمام القيادة الجديدة نافذة تاريخية نادرة. كان أحمد الشرع قبل عام أقوى بكثير مما هو عليه اليوم, ليس بالضرورة من حيث أدوات السلطة, بل من حيث رصيده الشعبي والرمزية السياسية وحجم الفرصة المتاحة لبناء مشروع وطني ذي امتداد عربي. لكن هذا الزخم جرى تنفيسه واستنزافه دون استثماره في ترسيخ دولة سورية قوية, وتعزيز موقعها في محيطها العربي. والأكثر إثارة للتساؤل أن ذلك جرى بالتوازي مع السعي إلى استرضاء أنظمة إقليمية, لم تقدم حتى الآن لسوريا مردوداً اقتصادياً ملموساً يتناسب مع حجم الرهان عليها, أو مع ما جرى تقديمه في سبيل كسب رضاها. لقد جرى التفريط برصيد شعبي وقومي وديني وقبلي نادر, في مقابل رهانات على علاقات إقليمية لم تتحول إلى مكاسب سورية ملموسة. كانت أمام سوريا فرصة تاريخية لتحويل التعاطف العربي إلى قوة سياسية واستراتيجية واقتصادية, لكن حسابات المكاسب الآنية والفرص التجارية القصيرة النظر طغت على استحقاقات بناء الدولة وموقعها الإقليمي. ويبقى التساؤل.. لماذا جرى التعامل مع العمق العربي الشعبي والقبلي باعتباره رصيداً رمزياً, بينما كان يمكن التعامل معه باعتباره أحد أصول القوة الاستراتيجية السورية؟

My college dorm project just broke the world speed record. Reaper hit 790 km/h (491 mph) carrying a 1.2 kg (2.6 lb) payload. These 3 Reapers are now the world’s fastest small jet-powered drones. Each of them can hold that speed for 4 minutes on a full tank. Reaper can be rail- or truck-launched, climb to 2,000 m (6,600 ft) in under 20 seconds, then fly for 50 km (31 mi) at full speed.
