The cat’s out of the bag! Feels surreal to announce that my short film 'Avulsion' will have its world premiere at this year's @FantasiaFest!
Canada’s 40 billionaires increased their wealth by $95 billion last year. At a time of unprecedented wealth inequality, it’s unacceptable that this budget contains no new measures to make the very richest pay their fair share.
That’s why we’ve called for a wealth tax on the very richest that could generate up to $40 billion per year.

CALL TO END MANDATORY FILM RATINGS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
Under BC's Motion Picture Act, films need to be reviewed, classified, and approved before they can be shown in a movie theatre. In 2026, BC charges $2.75 per minute to classify a film. For a 90-minute movie, that's $247.50. In 2027, it will go up to $3.00 per minute due to “inflation.”
That doesn’t include the distribution license you need to purchase to be able to submit the film, which ranges in price from $43 to $901, depending on how many films you plan on submitting.
For example, this is why Castration Movie took years to be shown in its home province of BC (w/ Pt. 2 having only screened under ther radar by me!).
We will be submitting this petition to the next Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General when they are sworn in. So share wide and far. Send a letter to the BC's Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General - [email protected]. Gather your friends and family, and tell them why the film rating and classification system should be abolished.

Sick and tired of conservative fear-mongering and moral panic about people who use drugs and unhoused people.
Maybe talk to the Conservative Premier whos shut down safe injection sites or the right-wing Mayor whos exacerbated issues by funding reactive not proactive policies.

Israeli "democracy":
- 500,000 West Bank settlers can vote, but not the 3M Palestinians under occupation
- 230,000 Israelis in occupied East Jerusalem can vote, but not the 350,000 Palestinians under their rule
- The fewer than 2M Palestinians left in occupied Gaza cannot vote

Jafar Panahi on why he returned to Iran.
Jafar Panahi has been sentenced to five years and one month in prison by a Tehran court:
• The new ruling, according to his lawyer, is separate from a previous one-year prison sentence
• The court also ordered the confiscation of Panahi’s assets and imposed two-year bans on social media use and travel

I have my own, unpopular takes on this, but I will say I am surprised that turnout was lower than 2014–easily the most forgettable municipal election of my lifetime.

Co-directors 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 (R, 🇨🇦) and 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺 (L, 🇺🇸) dropped into a special screening of #YouCanSeeEverything, their Elizabeth Holmes exposé hit Thursday night at Cineplex Yonge-Eglinton Theatre. They still can’t believe they pulled off their all-access documentary approach to the tech fraudster and her family: “I think we started with the expectation that it wasn’t going to work,” Fielder said. It worked like gangbusters. The two also talked about the Canadian films and filmmakers who influenced them, among them Don Shebib’s “Goin’ Down the Road,” Guy Maddin’s “My Winnipeg” and Peter Lynch’s “Project Grizzly.” The film expands to more theatres this weekend.
