Well, it began with a QT about Jack Grove, so I think it *was* a commentary on him. And part of the Arday story is that institutions (like LJMU) failed to investigate him properly. But even they admitted that there were problems with the thesis: gidmk.substack.com/p/the-jas…

I think you're being unfair to Jack, who pursued a public interest story diligently and was met with lies and legal threats. Had he been able to publish his piece, subsequent events might have turned out very differently.

Surely it can be possible to conclude that the attention was disproportionate, and his race was a factor (both in his promotion and his hounding), without having to pretend that he did nothing wrong and has been "cleared"?

Legislating in areas that could have an impact on parent/child relationships without starting from a well-developed understanding of child development and a theory of what parents should do *that you can really explain* is the policy equivalent of throwing dynamite around. /

Am SO desolate to hear of wonderful Patrick Stewart's death! We became friends over the last decade or so though I never saw enough of him - but his glorious daily online readings of the Shakespeare Sonnets were the best antidote to the miserable isolation of Covid imaginable - and knowing there was another brilliant impassioned role around the corner was a kind of heartening kinship. His Macbeth and Antony were stupendous and his Hirst taking it to Ian McKellen's Spooner in Pinter 's No Man's Land unforgettable. Patrick could do menace to make you shiver. But the thing about the greatest actors is, their voice lives in your head for good - and in Patrick's case that laugh too!

Same here. Same with the Byline Times and everyone associated with it. These are not true intellectuals. These are preachers.

Huge heartfelt thanks to @HJoyceGender and @Jebadoo2. Watching today’s hearing made me really emotional. My respect for both knows no bounds. Incredible advocates for children and families. Blown away, honestly ❤️❤️❤️❤️

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

Report on national suicide rate recorded by real-time surveillance shows no change.
Why does this matter?
Because of a belief out there that suicide is ⬆️. It isn’t.
And because we are not seeing a fall. We should look to econ stress, alcohol & MH care to bring rates down.

We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld

Patrick Stewart as gay opera director Alistair Burke in one of my favourite scenes in Frasier. Rest in Peace

Gutted about Patrick Stewart. My personal favourite turn of his: his guest appearance in Frasier leaning on his Shakespearean background for a perfect Frasierian farce

“So poorly drafted and so incoherent and spreads the net of criminal liability so widely that it cannot be rescued.”
Gay Men’s Network’s @Jebadoo2 delivers a damning verdict on the Government’s proposed ‘conversion practices’ offence.

Can't think of anyone better than @HJoyceGender and @Jebadoo2 to put this message across. The groomers trying to medicalise children must have been livid.
“These words are taken from a statute designed to deal with adult relationships…”
“Safeguarding your child sometimes involves saying ‘no’…”
Very, very powerful section of @Jebadoo2 and @HJoyceGender’s evidence towards the end of the committee hearing today:

RIP Patrick Stewart. True legend. Captain Picard, Professor X and maybe the funniest TV cameo ever with Ricky Gervais on “Extras” as himself.

.@Jebadoo2 was on fire today. Patiently explaining criminal law after a panel of activists with a distressingly low comprehension of what they were asking for.
Barrister @Jebadoo2 explains how a parent saying to their child they should love their body could meet every element of the Government’s proposed ‘conversion practices’ offence.
As Dennis says, all it takes is one difficult, distressing argument for a parent to be wide open to the risk of prosecution.
How can Women and Equalities Minister Bridget Phillipson claim the Bill “will not impinge on” parents’ ability to have difficult conversations with their children?

I come from a Star Trek family. My mom grew up watching the original series, & my grandfather called her, a skinny kid, "Bones" after Dr. McCoy. My brother & I came up with TNG (our childhood dog's name was Mr. Worf), & as an elder millennial, Picard was *my* captain. Stewart played Picard with a perfect balance of stoicism, integrity & compassion that was reflected in how he lived his life. What a loss.
