Absolutely nobody asked for this, but this is a fun little breakdown of what went through my head as I faced Shohei Ohtani in the WBC My main thought was ā€œIf he hits a home run, he’s supposed to. He’s the best… but if you get him out, that’s a fun memory to have foreverā€ 😊

Stop it. This is batting practise šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø
Baseball fans: ā€œCricketers can only dream of playing our deliveries.ā€ Meanwhile Buttler and Hales:

I know the cricket lovers aren’t prepared for a genuine conversation about this when they blurt out absurdities like this. Virat Kohli would be lucky to get a hit in rookie ball let alone be a MLB player
a professional cricket player with training would be ready to play Major League Baseball in a month but a professional baseballer would take atleast a decade to score a fifty or pick two wickets in international cricket against top teams

He needs the exact opposite of version of this? The exact opposition version of this would be an MLB player stepping into the nets against someone bouncing balls to him at 70kmh. Not one of the best fast bowlers of the modern day facing someone who has never played the sport
I need the exact opposite version of this. A baseball player batting and Jasprit Bumrah as a bowler. The batter will shit in his pants.

Not so hot take….They’d both suck when trying to convert Yeah they might run into one every once in awhile, but overall, they won’t be good Judge won’t be able to hit a short delivery at 150km, and Steve Smith wouldn’t be able to hit a 100mph fastball, or slider
Americans don't know this, but modern T20 cricket derives it's power hitting mechanics from baseball. Plus the ball being a full toss is considered a freebie in cricket. So yes, a cricketer who plays T20s will adapt and play Baseball better than vice versa.

And the throwing aspect to the crossover of sports. In Australia, baseball players are regularly hired to coach throwing technique to cricket teams.

Yes, I know, some cricket players have great arms and can hit the stumps from 30m away. Thats not the argument. You give me a few chances I bet I could do it. In my opinion, as an Australian who enjoys cricket, and plays baseball… baseball players have better arm strength

But in cricket, you can just be defensive and not have to run. Baseball, a pitcher will have 3-4 pitches. So… the batter has to see the ball in flight, read the spin of the ball, recognise if it’s a ball or strike, and then they have to .17sec to decide to swing
Now imagine bowling at the same speed but making the ball bounce anywhere on the pitch. The batter has to read the bounce and predict where it’ll reach them. Is it a bouncer, a full ball, l? And after all that, you still have to smash it out of the ground. in same time.

When we played against him in the minor leagues we had a nickname for him and I said it out loud to myself yesterday and I laughed because it just sounds funny to say. It’s not mean. Well I don’t think it’s mean. It’s just a rhyming nickname.
I knew a hitting coach who worked with a few big league teams and he always said he spent more time building confidence than he did talk about approach or mechanics

From highlights, it looks like this has been an electric Japan Series Anyone know how I can watch in Australia? šŸ‘€
Yoshitomo Tsutsugo goes the other way for a go-ahead 3-run shot in the 8th inning of Game 2 šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„

I’m very pro-technology to get calls right, but there is no way that is the threshold for what is a swing or not. Front of the plate. Barrel passes the front of the plate and it’s a check swing. Not that weird 45° line
The Yandy Diaz strikeout to end Game 2 would not have been close to a swing under the review system they've been testing in the minor leagues (via @tangotiger)

They need to fix how long these kickers get to kick conversions. 80 seconds is far too long. If every kicker takes up that time, and ten tries are scored. That’s 13+ minutes of people just kicking a goal. Stop the clock after the try. Start it again at the kick off #RLWC26

Leaked audio of Kevin Walters in the shed at half time. Hopefully this turns the team around #RLWC26

This is easily the worst Australian team I’ve seen in 26 years of watching rugby league… They looked lost out there and with Walters as the coach, he can’t figure out a way to clean it up #RLWC26

ā€œHe picked his head up looking for that runner coming homeā€ is what Smoltz says… in reality, his eyes are on the ball the entire time and just makes an error Love how confidently Smoltz is just wrong all the time

Also, he may end up seeing this, and his response will most likely be him posting a video of him turning a double play where he was either: A) far off the bag where the neighbourhood play was enforced Or B) getting barrelled by the runner and using it as a badge of honour

Not a video, lol but there it is. The act is so predictable 1. Complain about something in today’s game 2. Share footage of him doing what he thinks is the right way 3. Call people nerds (just guessing he’s called someone a nerd by now)

One of my favourite things about Australia is the laws we have in place to not allow dynamic pricing I paid $350 to see the NRL Grand final last year. The pinnacle of one of our national sports. If I wanted to resell, I had to do it on the Ticketek website. For no profit.
It's almost like one way or the other, tickets will tend to be priced based on the demand for the tickets.
