I’m delighted to have been re-elected to represent Lavender ward, serving alongside my great friend and colleague, @danielrhamilton.
Our majority increased from 93 to 583 on a swing to the Conservatives of 6%.
I feel very lucky to represent such a great part of our great city.

These Green councillors are celebrating the fact that they've blocked a new Lidl.
Apparently, it would have upset the local bats. Some of the objections came from *other supermarkets* in the area.
We have to take on these anti-growth, anti-human, anti-choice ideologues.

Yes Simon, I'm Conservative Party Chairman, and we’ll always back residents being punished by Labour.
Those reserves and zero debt were built by Conservatives. Your budget burned £50m of them in a year and would have emptied them by 2028. Own it.
Replying to @kevinhollinrake
Yes, the funding reductions are phased in. The Council Tax increase is not.
I’ve just noticed you are the Chairman of the Conservative Party!
Why are you defending a rich London council that is increasing its Council Tax by a crazy 92%?
Wandsworth council has some of the highest reserves in the country and zero external debt.
There’s no need for your party to double Council Tax - or to scrap culture and leisure discounts for low income children.
Why on earth are you trying to make that sound like a good plan? Local people hate it

This Labour MP is partly right - British life is a fantasy.
But it definitely exists.
And claiming it doesn’t is just another step towards destroying it.

While hard-working households in H&F are facing thousands £’s worth of tax rises from Labour, residents will be appalled to know that not only are housing the families of terrorists in 5-bedroom houses, but we are paying for extensive upgrades to them. 👇

Another Labour MP confirms that the Government is forcing Wandsworth’s council tax to nearly double. And @UKLabour are “Proud of that decision.”
Replying to @djmclark
Yes, they have. As part of the fairer funding agreement we’ve diverted funding to areas of the country that has far higher council tax than Wandsworth. Places like Hartlepool where a band D property pays approximately £1500 a year more than Wandsworth. Proud of that decision. 👍
Simon, can you direct me towards “Wandworth” please?
1️⃣ Government funding for Wandworth is being reduced by £80 million in three years’ time
2️⃣ Wandworth Tories plan to increase your Council Tax by £140 million next year
❌ Something doesn’t add up
There’s simply no need to raise your Council Tax by an eye-watering £852 next year.
It only makes sense as a political move. The Tories plan to fleece you now - and hope you’ll have forgotten by the time they cut tax before the next election

Labour are punishing low-tax councils with massive funding cuts.
So if you've voted for low taxes, Burnham and Rayner will force your council to put taxes up anyway.
For all his talk about local democracy, Burnham only cares about your vote if you vote for higher taxes.
“I think it is outrageous..."
Kemi Badenoch says the Conservative Party has "instructed lawyers" to explore if an £84m-a-year government funding cut, which Wandsworth Council has blamed for a potential 94% increase in council tax, can be blocked.

The Labour government cut Wandsworth Council’s budget by 40%.
It speaks volumes that Andy Burnham is happy to slash the funding for Conservative-run councils, but won’t touch the bloated welfare bill.

Reform defending Labour’s shocking policy to raid £80m+ per annum from well-run, low council tax councils and give it to high spending poorly run ones.
Deceitful, cynical, dishonest.
Confirmation at last night’s Council meeting that our three local Labour MPs have refused to support @wandsworth's challenge to the Labour Government’s 40% funding cut.
Two voted for the cuts, while the third was absent. #notonyourside #Wandsworth

Gosh - what complete shameless duplicity from:
@PutneyFleur
@MarshadeCordova
@DrRosena
They:
1. Support colossal funding cuts to their own @wandbc residents driven by @UKLabour at national level
2. Attack @wandsworth @Conservatives for then being forced to balance the books
Their disgusting hypocrisy undermines trust in democracy.
They should have the backbone to make the argument for Labour’s actions.
As they wont even defend their own actions, these spineless shapeshifters deserve the maximum opprobrium their constituents can muster.

I don’t know what warped logic drove Putin to blow up a stationary Ukrainian locomotive on the Polish border this morning. What we can say for sure is that this is the kind of random and senseless attack Ukrainians are enduring every day - even on civilian railways. So far Putin has been responsible for the deaths of 1700 staff of Ukrzaliznytsia - Ukrainian Railways. They and their daily passengers are absolutely heroic.
When are we going to give them the air defences they need? Why won’t we unfreeze Putin’s cash and give it to Ukraine? There is more than €140 billion in a Belgian bank account - and about £10 billion in London. Britain could show a lead.
The Ukrainians are going to win - that much was clear from the last three days in their wonderful country. But we will get this dreadful war over much faster if we all get serious and give them what they need and deserve.
The most concerning aspect of this is that it appears to be a pre-prepared line.
This means he would have thought about it in advance and perhaps tested it with advisers. At no stage did he or anyone else think "maybe it would be best not to say that".

My thoughts today are with His Majesty King Charles III and the whole Royal Family, 4 years on from the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
I still treasure my memories of the occasions I was fortunate enough to meet Her Late Majesty, and I know so many people across the country will be thinking of her today, of what she meant to them, and of the example she set.
Those 70 years of service to this country will never be forgotten.

Javier Milei claims to admire Margaret Thatcher but forgets this lesson: Britain does not surrender to bullies.
If he wants a stronger Argentina, he should build its economy, not threaten others.
But there’s also a lesson here for our sleepy Labour government. The madness of surrendering the Chagos Islands means other countries are now trying their luck.
If we do not defend our own interests, whether on energy or territory, others will happily exploit that weakness.
