Fabio Wardley is still a huge success story. Turned pro with the expectation of an Area Title being an achievement. Has won English, British, Commonwealth, and World Titles. Has headlined multiple PPVs and his home stadium. Also made a truck load of money. Amazing

It largely went under the radar that Mike Costello retired at the end of the Commonwealth Games, finishing his celebrated career covering amateur boxing and, typically enough, without wanting any of the attention he could have courted. He also spoke, in @BoxingNewsED

A year on since the fine boxing scribe Thomas Gerbasi passed. He was beloved, respected and appreciated more than he would have believed. I wrote this a few months ago but am remembering him today and thinking of his family.

When I interviewed the great George Chuvalo for Facing Ali, this moment cracked into my heart—still does. Listen to this eloquent fighter talk so tenderly and wisely about recovery from deep trauma—and how love is the key. RIP George, you deserve it. @AlBernstein @Tom_Gray_Boxing

Emmet Brennan’s corner want to have a good look at themselves after that. Down four times, hadn’t won a round and absolutely nothing left. Multiple opportunities to stop it, and he’s just been brutally knocked out for no reason.

This was my sign off piece at BoxingScene. It’s been a crazy few years and I’ve written for the site for more than a decade but it’s time for a new challenge and for me to do something different…. 1/3
