A time lapse from early this am (Oct 11th 2026) of the remnants of Hurricane Rachel sliding across the Las Vegas Valley and Strip. The West Side of Las Vegas received the most rain with a few areas getting near 3 inches. Vegas averages only a little over 4 for an entire year. Flash Flooding followed in some neighborhoods. The Perseid Meteor Shower Aug 12-13 2026. Of COURSE it was cloudy tonight! I still ran out with my 18 year old and dodged thunderstorms, rain, wind and clouds to catch MAYBE 2 hours of semi clear skies near Searchlight NV. I put my fav meteor shot of the night over this old cattle loading ramp and in the Milky Way at the very start of this timelapse. We counted 30 meteors in the narrow band of clear sky before clouds moved back in. We had several "oooo, ahhhh" meteors bright green to reddish in color, one leaving a nice train for several seconds.
