Yeah, if you fake your entire academic career and make outlandish and self-aggrandizing claims about hundreds of other things you haven't done, and invent various academic positions and achievements for yourself, and then try and use the police to intimidate journalists investigating all your lies, then, "to put it mildly", things "don't go well"

Someone is dead, after all, and the likes of Toby Young are still dancing merrily on his grave for the worst reasons. This whole thing hasn't - to put it mildly - gone well, has it.

The real reason is that she's a streetwalker who now plies her trade in the Dem side of town. But she can't say that out loud, so she makes up highfalutin excuses like this which she hopes will fool at least some people, and at least herself if no one else.

Something that's been exposed by the Arday affair, and various attempts to defend Arday, is how activist academics in soft sciences or psuedo-disciplines use the hard-earned prestige of more serious and / or quantitative subjects as a kind of human shield against scrutiny.

Someone who is not a citizen is in the country with a removal order, and they are working and raising a family and haven't committed any crimes unrelated to their immigration status. What should we do?
Nothing. We should do nothing.

It is in the public’s interest to know whether its elite universities are holding their scholars to high standards. There was substantial evidence that Jason Arday widely committed plagiarism, committed academic fraud, and was a serial fabulist. There is also evidence that Cambridge lowered its standards when they hired him and then proceeded to look the other way when reports of his academic misconduct started to emerge—as they are doing now as they have withdrawn their pledge to investigate his hiring.
He has not been “cleared” of plagiarism. He allegedly plagiarized in multiple papers, including those neither covered by the journal that looked into the of his that they’d published and had required substantial corrections nor by the university that granted him his PhD.
Arday also clearly and demonstrably lied about his life in service of career advancement, fame and income.
He absolutely was not "cleared of plagiarism" which is a transparent attempt to form a consensus by repeating a brazen lie over and over again- the media did not "hound him to his death" but simply investigated and reported his own outlandish tall tales- he would not have become the subject of a scandal if a) he hadn't plagiarised and told so many outrageous lies, b) if Cambridge hadn't enabled and constructed his rise to academic celebrity, c) if he hadn't sicced the police on one of the earliest journalists to investigate him, and d) Jolyon Maugham hadn't catapulted him into the public eye with his incredibly inept attempt at activism

I do think something has shifted and the Illuminati has put the word out that we can admit this stuff now. Two weeks ago the NYT, Ms. Now, and Obama were beating their chests and saying it was racist to even THINK such things, but now the NYT, TMZ, and CIA Spokesperson Ken D are on it. Big quick change.
