Time savings is no longer a compelling enough AI pitch.
As @GeorgeKurdin, co-founder of @usemonk, puts it: what happens when you save someone 5 hours, only for them to spend that time on Reddit?
Nobody is piloting AI anymore. The conversations he's having with customers now are about hard ROI - bottom line, top line or margin.
Hours returned to someone's calendar don't count unless you can say what they did with them.
"It's no longer about just procuring a solution. It's also how do you get the company to actually use the solution."
NEW: How @usemonk is going after the $1.5B+ problem every business ignores, getting paid
Monk already handles $1.5B+ in receivables and has raised ~$28M through its Series A. They're taking on the accounts receivable side of the ledger (think the opposite of AP)
George Kurdin (Co-Founder of Monk) joins GTMnow to break down how he's building with a 16-person team: the harness as the real moat in applied AI, why he picked a market the labs won't touch for a decade, selling hard ROI over time savings, and much more.
George was a professional poker player, then led Streamlabs through its sale to Logitech, before building Monk. He runs it with 16 people, almost no meetings, and everything out in the open in Slack, from investor updates to wins and losses.
Highlights:
01:12 George's path: poker, operator, exited CEO, founder
01:57 What pro poker taught him: variance, discipline, and adaptation
04:46 What Monk is: AR automation, the other side of the ledger
05:37 Why an engineer now says sales and marketing is "tier zero"
07:25 The pre-seed website bet that lifted close rates ~50%
10:13 Building Monk's culture: speed, ownership, clarity
11:23 How they operationalize accountability (everything in Slack)
16:18 Why solve accounts receivable, and reverse-engineering a big TAM
18:31 Why the frontier labs won't disrupt them
19:53 Why invoices get stuck: the nine-variable problem
22:06 The "harness" as the real moat in applied AI
24:58 Why precision and security are "tier zero" in finance
25:31 Hard ROI over "time savings" as the new AI value prop
28:09 The thing nobody tells you about founding a company
29:00 Fundraising advice: compress the process to create FOMO
30:19 The best advice he got: invest in the co-founder relationship

New on Monk: Call Logs are easier to scan, so you can play any call recording right from the list and read the transcript as a back-and-forth between the Monk agent and your customer. Also in this release, remittances you can link straight from the transaction, and stuck portal uploads that show what’s blocking them, like a 2FA code or a failed login, so your team can respond accordingly.

We just shipped Custom Dashboards in Monk, so anyone on a finance team can build their own reports. Building one takes about a minute:
- describe the widget you want in plain language, and Monk’s agent builds it
- or add one from the catalog, like top 10 outstanding invoices or total collected month to date
- pick the columns, set the date range, arrange the grid and save
AR reporting is no longer one-size-fits-all.
Live for every Monk customer today. @francescocoacci walks through the update in the video below.

Rachel and William took to the streets of New York to crowdsource questions for our upcoming summit, Net 30.
What do New Yorkers really think about the term Net 30?
What are their burning thoughts on AI and the future of finance?
And what would they ask the finance leaders on our final panel?
The best questions will go to our panelists on stage. To hear them live, request an invite at monk.com/net30, or follow along for the recap after the event.

To continue our series of AI events in NYC, I moderated a fireside on building agents w/ @jgreze, Mayor + CEO of @TownAI, + @GeorgeKurdin, CEO of @usemonk
My main takeaways:
- Burn tokens now, fix margins later
- Horizontal agents break where mistakes cost money
- Context + SOPs turn into process capital
- How you eval depends on how wide you go
- Get ready to fight
Super fun convo given the two very diff approaches to agents: Town is building the horizontal AI assistant that learns how you work (reportedly raised at a $1B val) while Monk went deep on one workflow, accounts receivable, closed a $25M Series A this year + already manages billions in AR for cos like ElevenLabs + Profound
