1997-98 DJF has the highest correlation of all analogs, by far
El NiƱo snowfall patterns 1950-2026.
I anticipate a lot of āwinter cancelā opinions after Christmas, but the party will just be getting started!

My map. The SFS is by far the snowiest solution out there. Probably very incorrect.

Unless your account is solely for informing people, like an official NWS account, sharing maps for engagement is what X is for.

If you have a name of a specific statistical test Iāll run it on my data. Iāve done most. Unfortunately the closest stat sig p values are with -AO which is probably the most obvious anyway without even doing the tests. And Iāve tested 16 other parterns, MJO, TNH, nothing Iāve found so far is worth displaying but the teleconnections listed on the site. The most obvious background states are the ones driving the snow usually.

Sooo best climate but you only map temperature and no rain, excluding humidity, clouds, wind and lows?

We would probably need a bigger sample size, this is only 27 NiƱo winters back to 1950. And honestly I wouldnāt want to go back to the 1800s because then youāre getting into an entirely different climatology and it probably wouldnāt survive any kind of sig tests
