More from the pond - life and death struggle between a two Tailed Tiger & an isopod.
Now you know what the jaws do.
Seriously how much fun could this be with a few kids, a couple of little nets - its like a mini zoo in less than a cup of water.

Spider Mud Eye - nymph of a dragonfly and TOP lure for trout.
As they migrate to the edge of waterways to climb& moult into the adult, they have to get past the waiting trout - who gorge themselves.
Eyeballing this thru a lens is an experience!

The secret life of freshwater snails: there are 69 species native to NZ. How can you help? Be conscious of sidelined freshwater habitats. Treat these places with respect & remember that even if you can’t see animals, it doesn’t mean they’re not there: blog.doc.govt.nz/2019/07/25/…
