Long and possibly slightly confusing post, but bear with me. First off, if you’re a PSN user, set up passkeys ASAP! Set up two, one on your PC/laptop and one on your mobile device! About an hour ago someone managed to break into my PlayStation Network account. I was incredibly lucky to be able to combat it right away. I’ll explain how in a bit of a timeline of what happened below. - Luckily I was looking at my phone when I got a text through saying 2FA had been disabled. I don’t have phone number 2FA, only a passkey, so that’s weird in itself. (First screenshot) - I jumped straight onto my PC and tried to sign in on the web. No luck, I was locked out of my account and my PC-based passkey wasn’t working. - I was still signed into the mobile app, so in there I went straight to “Settings” then “Your Information”, which took me to a browser-based version of the PSN account settings on my phone. - Went in there and noticed my PC passkey had been removed but my phone one hadn’t (it won’t let you remove all your passkeys, you still have to have one enabled after you’ve first configured it). I immediately went to “Security” and hit "sign out of all devices" at the bottom, so it kicked me and whoever else was in there out. - Tried to sign back into the PS App but no luck, it just kept saying “Something went wrong”. (Second screenshot) - Went back to the PSN site in my phone’s web browser and managed to sign in with my phone passkey. I then changed the email address associated with the account (I’ve got the email address they changed it to, but it’s a random-word throwaway one) to something brand new. - They also changed the phone number on my account, so I’ve changed that back. I think I’m secure now and have set up a new PC passkey, as well as keeping my phone passkey in place. So realistically there are two things that managed to “save” me here. The first is that I had two passkeys set up, one PC-based and one mobile phone-based. I STRONGLY recommend every single PSN user does that as soon as possible. Secondly, and probably the biggest factor, I was extremely, and I mean extremely, lucky that I saw that text message as soon as it came through and could act fast, because I also got a password change email and didn’t see that at the time. Like seriously, I cannot stress how lucky I got here. If I wasn’t looking at my phone at that exact moment and had missed that message by 5 or 10 mins, I probably wouldn’t have my PSN account right now and would be at the mercy of Sony’s god-awful support agents.

I wish I could say the same for my needs for next year! 😔
Sony CFO Lin Tao says they have secured enough PS5 memory needed until the end of the next fiscal year! (Until March 2028) “Regarding Memory procurement for next fiscal year, based on discussions held so far with various suppliers, we have aligned on the quantity of memory needed for our projected hardware unit sales.”

Hopefully we can now move move on from this niche disc obsession, to grilling Sony about stuff that really matters and where they truly suck ⬇️ While simultaneously pushing for better legal protections for digital ownership, like the work of @StopKilingGames
Good to see PS Store get stick over real complaints 👏 ➡️ Poor account security ➡️ No way to migrate accounts when you move country ➡️ Poor refund policy ➡️ No gifting ➡️ Not a great search We finally got PS account renaming, but that's about it for the last 10 years! 😅

Don't worry, they'll be no GTA6 footage from New Zealand, we use the metric system ☺️
I'm so annoyed by New Zealand, no offense to the country and people 😭 Their time zone is ruining the lead up to midnight for many on November 18. There will be footage of the first hours all over the internet.

Another PS user has had their account taken through the support agent exploit. The account thief then changed the personal information (possibly phone number and email) tied to the account and now @PlayStation support won’t even talk to him to fix this. Since then he has had the account thieves contact him and attempt to exploit him for money. @Sony this needs to be resolved asap. You have previously been made aware of the exploitation happening off the back of your support procedures and the lack of action only further enables this.
My PlayStation account has been hacked and Sony's customer service somehow is saying my personal information I am giving, in order to prove who I am is incorrect and they can no longer proceed with restoring my account. Is it this easy to compromise accounts? #PlayStation @Sony

Could be the last chance to buy a PS5 Pro before GTA6 & inevitable 2027 price rises. EB Games (GameStop Aus), doing the dirty; Force-bundling a controller & near-worthless insurance, only selling to subscribers, limit 1! AU$1,618 inc tax! Out of stock everywhere else I checked.
EB Games Will Have Its Final PS5 Pro Units Before Grand Theft Auto 6 Today press-start.com.au/news/play…

The union's position is pretty self-explanatory. They're claiming Microsoft has no financial justification to close the studio & kill alegedly productive jobs. There is nothing to "defend" there, rather it up to Microsoft to refute that claim. Your turn, Asha.
“The decision to close Arkane is solely the brutal application of a never-ending search for maximum profit optimization,” STJV argued. “Arkane is profitable. Just not profitable enough for Microsoft.” Nonsense. Defend this absurd position.

No Man’s Sky on #PSVR2 is just phenomenal now. I spot a blip on the map and set a course for it. It’s a derelict husk. I angle my tractor beam at the wreck and get to work. Time is against me tho as these husks start to explode when you get greedy…

So Arkane is profitable, but only a small profit margin. If Asha keeps Arkane, the Xbox average margin may be dragged down. So closing a profitable studio, abandoning the investment in the game & talent, still "makes line go up" & secures Asha's Christmas bonus. #clownshow
Arkane union says Xbox is ‘sabotaging’ Blade development A French union representing workers at Arkane has accused Xbox of “sabotaging” the development of Marvel’s Blade by putting a 19-month ban on hiring new staff. The union’s statement reads: “Today, as work on Blade is going fine, and the level of quality of the game to be expected is on [par] with what Arkane has accustomed its players, workers have to face the harsh reality: our studio might get closed because, and only because, Microsoft decided to, even if that means sabotaging the game it funded.” “The decision to close Arkane is solely the brutal application of a never-ending search for maximum profit optimisation,” the post continues. “Arkane is profitable. Just not profitable enough for Microsoft.” The union has outlined a list of demands for Xbox. These include giving Arkane a say in who would potentially acquire the studio, and a higher redundancy payout should Arkane be closed down. Right now, Arkane says that the redundancy being offered by Xbox is “outrageously low.” However, Arkane makes it clear that it would like to remain open and continue development on Blade. It also argues that it is in Xbox’s interest to stick with Arkane: “Even this closure itself is done against any financial logic, as closing Arkane today would probably be more expensive than finishing the game.” via: VGC videogameschronicle.com/news…

Could be Nintendo is out of physical before Xbox or Sony! Macronix is ditching Nintendo ROM business to make NAND. There are other ROM suppliers but likely prices will rise. Switch 2 only had 64GB size, too big & expensive for indies, to small for AAA. Expect more game key cards.
1/4 Nintendo's main memory chip maker is quitting the Switch business Macronix, which makes the ROM chips in Switch 1 and Switch 2 game memory cards, is phasing out that business. There will be no new ROM products, and Q3 is the last quarter it reports ROM sales separately.

The cost and risk of publishing physical means indies need publisher financial backing. That's only harder with more limited card supply & higher prices. But within 3-4 year more wafer supply should hopefully come online.
Replying to @gibbogame
The cost will get higher, meaning fewer physicals. Us small indies have been pushed out of the consoles physicals market. Hoping for PC to pick up eventually! (I do my own PC physicals personally)
