My museum @NaturalSciences has a REALY great new special/traveling exhibit about spiders that opened this past weekend. It's curated by spider expert Dr. Linda Rayor. 100% worth your time and the admission (or membership).

Are there any job boards for trans people looking for jobs in safe states? Or ways to share job listings with that community?

Consider: the smallest salticid (smol-ticid) you'll never see He's neonella vinnula, and an adult male (see the tiniest chonky palps). This is as big as he'll get. πŸ₯Ή He's going back to his leaf litter hunting tomorrow. The laddiest lad. 🀎 5/31/23. N. Florida

An undescribed female Maevia jumping spider munching on a fly. A string of eggs is emerging from the fly, either pushed out by the predator or because many insects will lay eggs near death as a last ditch effort to leave behind offspring. Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina

Look, at some point, evolutionarily speaking, you gotta just realize maybe the ladies don't want you to find them.

If this is your response to seeing a tiny, harmless, baby bug going about their life in their own habitat, time to rethink your entire goddamn life

A jumping spider (Phidippus) nailing a flyβ€”in slow motion. Shot on my phone coming home from work. The fly seems already snarled in some webbing… Stay till the end to see why jumpers put down drag lines! Probably my best nature-in-action moment ever, a few years back.

Make sure you know where to go. Bring your ID. A face mask. Some water? An umbrella? Something to read? Be ready to wait in line. It's not such a sacrifice. People have died for our right to vote. Please. Vote.

Please share! I’m recruiting grad students at Oklahoma State (MS or PhD) to study insect morphology and/or behavior. Those interested in fighting behavior and injury, wing evolution and flight, or diversification of reproductive organs are especially encouraged to apply.

Ok, so here’s the thing. If students aren’t grasping the concepts we are teaching then how *we teach* needs to change. We are meant to guide and facilitate *learning* not to show off our own knowledge.

Not for nothing, but #SupremeCourt justices can be #impeached with a simple majority in the #House. Relevant because at least 4 of them appear to have lied under oath in their confirmation hearings, and one was party to a violent coup attempt to overthrow the 2020 election.
