My op-ed published in the @chicagotribune. The essay reflects on a trip to Texas to visit the presidential libraries of Lyndon B. Johnson, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush—and what those visits revealed about the changing norms of American political life.

To assess the results of the war, the analysis is actually quite simple: A. Iran before the war: 1. Willing to engage in nuclear negotiations 2. Prepared to consider significant concessions on the nuclear issue 3. The Strait of Hormuz remained open and stable B. Iran after the war (so far): 1. Demanding recognition of its sovereign role over the Strait of Hormuz 2. Refusing to discuss the nuclear issue until it receives guarantees on ending the war and meaningful economic relief The war produced a number of tactical achievements. But strategically, it did not moderate Iran’s position but actually it hardened it. Instead of moving Tehran closer to compromise on the nuclear file, the conflict shifted Iranian priorities toward security guarantees, economic stabilization, and leverage in the Gulf. The nuclear issue, once central, has now become conditional on broader political and economic arrangements. That is the core strategic problem: military pressure may have weakened parts of Iran’s infrastructure, but it also hardened the regime willingness to negotiate under pressure. And, they are not ready to show more compromises... #IranWar‌ #iran

President Trump built a political brand criticizing the Iraq War. Now he risks embracing the seductive logic of preemptive war he once condemned. History has a way of repeating itself. My new op-ed in the @Suntimes chicago.suntimes.com/other-v…

They should really consider a name change at this point. Maybe “The Committee for Orderly Silence.” Or “The Stability Through Obedience Council.” Or, my personal favorite, “The Dictators’ Book Club (No Reading Required).”

When cruelty becomes routine and outrage too quickly fades away, something essential is lost. In this monologue from my appearance on @wcpt820, I revisit Joseph Welch’s question-“Have you no sense of decency?”-and ask what it demands of leadership today. youtu.be/lTrWhCJDmVM?si=tG27…

And the world moves on. While the US turns inward, the EU and India have created a free-trade zone for two billion people, cutting tariffs and expanding security cooperation. America used to be the indispensable nation. Now, countries shrug and look for opportunity elsewhere.
Goodbye USA. The EU and India have signed a trade and security agreement in New Delhi. According to Ursula von der Leyen, the new agreement creates a free trade zone for around two billion people. It provides for a gradual reduction of Indian tariffs on cars from the EU from 110% to 10%. Most other tariffs will also be eliminated: 44% for machinery, 22% for chemicals, and 11% for pharmaceutical products. European farmers will gain access to the Indian agricultural market – most restrictions will be lifted or significantly reduced. EU companies will receive privileged access to the Indian services market, including financial services and maritime transport. The security agreement provides for enhanced cooperation in maritime and cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, and the potential joint development of military technology in the future.

Absolutely! You wouldn't want "academics and elites" who have actually studied a subject to outweigh the off-the-cuff opinions of village idiots. This is how we're seeing the resurgence of measles, and the widespread belief in almost non-existent vote fraud, among many other great leaps backward in the Trump era. Cronkite would be so very proud of you. @CBSNews
"On too many stories, the press has missed the story. Because we've taken into account the perspective of advocates and not the average American. Or we put too much weight in the analysis of academics or elites, and not enough on you." That changes now. The new CBS Evening News starts Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

This is why a wall between the Attorney General and the president is so fundamental. Bondi most certainly knows the information was classified and warrants an investigation, but is unwilling to do her job because she fears it will upset the president. Pathetic.
REPORTER: The Signal chat controversy -- is DOJ involved? If so, why? If not, why not? AG PAM BONDI: It was sensitive info, not classified. What we should be talking about is it was a very successful mission ... if you want to talk about classified information, talk about what was at Hillary Clinton's home
