Thanks @yuenok for the opportunity to comment on China BCI for @CNBC last week. It's absolutely a sector I'm super excited about and that we are low-key trying to meet a lot more companies in at @techbuzzchina. No one really asks for these meetings because they're simply not aware of how much progress has been made, but I'm always trying to sneak one in.
I have a few people in the family with neurodegenerative diseases and I am so into supporting R&D in this area (was one of my wedding gift options actually, charity money for this instead of a hongbao).
You’ve read about China’s price wars, but what do consumers think & how are they impacted?
While falling prices may seem appealing, there are hidden costs esp. in a deflationary context: shrinking revenues, lower quality, less innovation, wages & jobs taking a hit.

Weeks before Zelensky said men from China are fighting for Russia, a tenacious Chinese journalist spoke to one. For NPR, I interviewed Chai Jing (months after I first tried to contact her for another story). npr.org/2025/04/11/g-s1-5942…

We looked into the use of exit bans in China, and found that most aren’t applied to those accused of a crime but to those involved in civil litigation, usually business disputes. By @RebeccaYFeng & me

Other cases:
-A Taiwanese restaurant owner in a share ownership dispute with his German co-owner
-An Iranian businessman who owed an employee $7,000
-A US national who claimed he'd left his role but was still listed as the company's legal rep when it was sued for missed payments
A search of a court database turned up 37 cases of foreign nationals hit with exit bans. Lawyers say the real number is much higher, and academics have found 150+ cases—including new data disclosed by the U.S. embassy in Beijing under a FOIA request. wsj.com/world/china/chinese-…
