Kudos 👏
We congratulate Dr. Josephine Ndagire on her election by @UN_HRC to its Advisory Committee as a member from African States.
Dr Josephine Ndagire is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Public and Comparative Law at @MakerereLaw.
The @UN_HRC Advisory Committee is essentially the elite "think-tank" of the UN's highest human rights body (Human Rights Council, established in 1946 as the Human Rights Commission but rebranded in 2006). It was established to provide specialized, research based expertise on cross-cutting thematic issues, such as, rights impacts of Artificial Intelligence, climate change, and socio-economic justice. Members are elected on a geographically distributed basis (five seats designated for African States).
What a lovely ending. So happy that she was rescued, and yes, miracles do happen. God is still in control 🙏
A 6-year-old nonverbal girl vanished into the Canadian wilderness without shoes or rain gear. For three cold nights, hundreds of people searched desperately for her. Even helicopters, drones, and search dogs couldn’t find her. Then, just as one search team was preparing to leave the woods, two children heard something that stopped everyone in their tracks.
It happened in British Columbia. Little Oaklynn Schweder had wandered away from her home, disappearing into miles of dense forest. As temperatures dropped and rain moved through the area, her family faced every parent’s worst nightmare.
More than 600 volunteers joined the search. Teams pushed through thick brush, searched steep ravines, and checked areas again and again. But after 73 hours, there was still no sign of Oaklynn.
Then two children accompanying a volunteer search group thought they heard a child’s voice coming from deep inside a wooded gully. The adults stopped and listened. Someone called out Oaklynn’s name, and incredibly, a little voice answered.
They scrambled down the slope and found her standing near a fallen log. She was cold, dirty, and dehydrated, but she was alive.
When her mother finally reached her, she scooped Oaklynn into her arms and carried her out of the forest as the exhausted searchers erupted into cheers.
After three nights alone in the wilderness, this little girl was finally going home.
Share this if you believe miracles still happen. 💙
The special memories with her will always be treasured by you. 🫂
What if losing our Ashley from #BrainCancer was always part of the plan?
What if, the very instant she was conceived, the universe quietly wrote in tiny, gentle letters:
“13 years & 171 days
Love her with everything you have.
Hold her close.
Teach her kindness.
Then open your hands & let her come home to me.”
I’ve asked myself a thousand times… If I had known how deep this ache was going to be, how some mornings the air would feel too heavy to breathe, would I still have said yes to loving her that much? Every single time, the answer is yes. A thousand times yes because the pain, even this pain, is nothing next to the light she gave us.
The way her eyes got huge the first time she saw a butterfly & whispered, “They’re made of fairy dust, Daddy.”
How she planted sunflower seeds in a cracked plastic cup & checked every morning like it was Christmas.
The fierce, quiet strength in her voice (the kind that made grown-ups listen when she spoke up for someone being left out). One sentence from her could fix a bad day. One giggle could make the whole house feel safe. Her heart was so big it softened every sharp corner it touched.
She gave us gifts we’ll carry forever. Love that still warms us, lessons that still guide us & yes, this sorrow too. But she was never only ours to keep. She had her own bright purpose, her own sparkle to leave on the world & believe that in her thirteen beautiful years, she did every single thing she came here to do.

What a brave loving brother ❤️
Josie Schwendeman was just 11 weeks old when her parents heard the words no family ever wants to hear: #Leukemia 💔
She fought into remission & stayed cancer free for about two years. Then in October 2023, it came back.
Doctors said she needed a stem cell transplant. Her siblings were tested & her sister Kinley was a partial match but her brother Caden, only 6, was a perfect 10/10. 💪🏼
When he realized it was him, he jumped up, ran to her bed, hugged her & said: “Josie, I’m going to save you.” ❤️
In January 2024, he donated. Today, Josie is cancer FREE! Her family calls him her hero. 💛

What can I say?
I came, saw, conquered… and left with so much knowledge, insight and best of all, new connections and networks.
@Yale and this particular program has been in my vision board for the past 10 years. Since August 2016, to be precise.
Everything has its time, and this came to fruition.
Forever grateful. Again, what I see, nobody can see, even when they see it ❤️
Poleni sana. May he RIP
It is sad that a Great teacher of Medicine, Dr Okot Nwang, has rested to be with the Lord @MakCHS_SOM
Our aim should be yo preserve life, not end it. Death should be a natural process.
Please not this Bill, and not in our NHS - I wrote for Parliament News on why many of us think this Assisted Dying Bill is very bad law. parliamentnews.co.uk/please-…
Indeed we still have so much work to do to strengthen our health care systems. Patients should not suffer because of weak broken systems...
If the answer is, “Go home and wait for approval,” while the patient ultimately has to raise money from family and friends, then we still have work to do.
