As I get my hands more and more on @figma's Code Layers, it feels so meta. Unreal. Such a big bet on turning the Canvas into.. a solid, super advanced creative brain. Every moment with Code Layers is a WTF moment.

Awesome to see @ShawnFarsai and @gabepereyra share Harvey's work around combining agentic workflows with the Figma canvas and Weave! Excited to make this something you can do end to end in Figma! (We're so close!)

In the world of software design and product, we're seeing exponentially more software. But the usage and utilization of apps? Flat. Differentiate with design, a point of view, brand, storytelling, "taste" (and all the buzzwords you can think of)

Do people today really still find the "Who's on First" skit funny? I believe people found it funny back in 1930's-1950's. Hard to even make it through the entire six minute skit in 2026.

This might be the most important essay of 2026. My conversations with Nick over the past few months about his research have given me great hope for the future. I'm so happy he is sharing these findings with the world. AI presents extremely difficult problems. We can all assume these problems are intractable and that we are doomed, or we can try and solve for a positive future. Personally, I choose optimism. There are many challenges ahead... let us build the tools to face them head on.
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

Some behind the scenes details... we tried getting an overhead camera setup working to show off code layers and specs on mobile, but we had to scrap the overhead at the last minute. Figma mobile team is absolutely crushing it... !
I remember that a theoretical variant of this product was one of my interviews to join Figma. The team behind this is absolutely cracked and this is just the beginning. …also try it out on iOS!!!

Specs have transformed how we build at Figma. Integration with Code Layers, the Figma Agent, and Figma MCP Server makes them so much more than a markdown editor: they’re collaborative artifacts for you, your teammates, and your agents to get work done together.
Introducing Specs! A new medium for markdown on the Figma canvas. You can think of Specs as a container for your context. Use MCP, Github, etc to move context in/out of Figma and across the Figma platform. Specs is rolling out in open beta over the next few weeks!

Payload is now in Figma! Available to everyone in Figma Make, so you can go from prototype to production all in one place.

When we announced Code Layers earlier this year, we wanted design and code to live side by side so you can collaborate with code directly on the Figma canvas. Excited to share it's now rolling out in open beta!

What happens when you pay ambitious young people to skip college and build? Thiel Fellows have gone on to found @AnthropicAI, @figma, @ethereum and so much more. But how did the fellowship actually work—and what did it feel like from the inside in the early days? We spoke with @DStrachman and fellows like @zoink and @tarstarr to tell that story. Read the essay: review.firstround.com/inside…

1. fake news, not from me 2. outdated prompting strategy 3. why do all these image gen models make me look european and give me @alexatallah 's hair? 4. just use the figma mcp
Dylan Field (Figma CEO) just released a prompt that turns Opus 5.5 into a design-to-code factory that actually builds and ships working apps from Figma designs. It's f*cking unreal... Send it to Opus 5.5, and thank me later. Then read the full guide for Opus 5.5 Design-to-Code Engineering.
