Aero's $AERO token much less inflationary than expected!
Following the merge between @aeroxyz and Velodrome, the $AERO token's annualised inflation rate has been cut in half to around 6.6%.
Before the merge, $AERO's annual inflation stood at a massive 12%, and projections only estimated a reduction to around 8%.
Is this enough to make you bullish...?

In just the first 48h, Aero has taken the number one or number two spot on most of the chains where it’s live.
Just the start. 🛫

bit of lore: when as a bit of an experiment we started veDAO in Jan 2022 and raised $2B+ in a couple of days to get a chunk of Solidly's veNFT value, devs on Fantom, Solidly's home blockchain, were pissed. They saw us as being set to get something they believed they'd been promised. Who were these unknowns who were somehow taking up the market?
Fantom devs waged total war. they spun up all these wild theories about how we were mercenaries sent to plunder Fantom and take everything we'd earned back to Ethereum. We had mystery whale backers, they said. They actually called us colonizers. Colonizers! they spun up a rival org called 0xDAO to try to destroy us. they sought all sorts of angles to try to malign and ridicule us on the way. it was kind of mystifying, all the hate we got, even as we did everything the right way. as someone who'd been a builder for all of like five days and had virtually no public face, i was totally unprepared.
what happened in the next three months would fill a few books but needless to say, we're still here. veDAO spawned Velodrome, which spawned Aerodrome and now Aero
and almost half a decade later, we're finally going to do it
we brought the bag back to Ethereum

Today marks the end of @VelodromeFi as it merges into @aeroxyz. The end of one era of speculation and the beginning of another. It's got me feeling reflective.
Some of you might remember that before Velodrome, there was veDAO. A DAO built around the idea of ordinary people pooling their voting power in Andre Cronje's Solidly protocol.
The hype was insane. It literally broke Fantom multiple times. Then Solidly imploded and much of Fantom went down with it.
Protocol after protocol rugged or disappeared with some version of "well, we tried. cya."
Holders got absolutely wrecked. The shame of having believed in internet money was palpable. I thought it was over too.
But veDAO did something that still blows my mind to this day. An act of genuine selflessness in crypto. Fucking unheard of.
They worked with Optimism to restart their veDEX experiment, bringing veDAO holders with them into Velodrome.
Think about that.
They could have done what seemingly every other Fantom project did: walk away, start fresh, give themselves full control and a bigger share of the upside. Nobody would have batted an eye.
But they chose to do the right thing.
That's when I realised how LUCKY I was to have witnessed this firsthand.
I'd stumbled upon something incredibly rare in crypto: a team with integrity and vision. And not just empty words but a team that had demonstrated those qualities when it actually mattered.
That was an edge. An edge that no amount of research, chart analysis or onchain data could have given me.
I have no idea where the next phase of the MetaDEX experiment takes us. But I know who I'm backing.
I've seen what this team does when everything falls apart. I know what they're made of.
And in this industry, that knowledge is an edge.
Let's go @aeroxyz

The posts I see on CT about the @aeroxyz upgrade only mention the cross-chain expansion
Most analysts are totally unaware of the major economic upgrades that will drive its dominance
New rev lines, new buybacks, more efficient emissions, 8-9 figs MEV capture, low inflation
New article on the Aero economy is LIVE ✈️

2 predictions on how this chart develops over the next few quarters:
1) with generally more favorable onchain conditions, and spot DEXs continuing to eat market share from CEXs, I expect a new ATH in overall spot DEX volume within the next 1-3 quarters. volumes at least 2x from here (conservative).
2) as the superior DEX, Aerodrome keeps taking share from its competitors and rivals Uniswap for the #1 spot, which would 5x its volume from here.
$AERO fundamentals are about to 10x.
just give it some time.

A few days ago, i compared $AERO vs $UNI and said i'd allocate 60% to UNI and 40% to AERO for the long term.
but with Aero's upcoming expansion, i think $AERO deserves another look.
some numbers i didn't mention in my previous post:
– ~51% of AERO supply was locked in veAERO as of April 2026
– avg lock duration was ~3.7 years
– 184M+ AERO has been acquired and locked through ecosystem initiatives
– annualized emissions were running at ~10.9%
– Aerodrome Slipstream generated ~$27.8M gross revenue in Q3, including ~$8.2M from external incentives
and there's another catalyst approaching.
@aeroxyz and @VelodromeFi are preparing to merge into Aero, powered by MetaDEX03, with Oct 21 listed as a key launch date.
this could expand AERO's role beyond Base and into a broader Ethereum liquidity ecosystem.
the Momentum Fund is also worth watching, with its revenue allocated toward buybacks, ecosystem grants and strategic growth.
but i still see one major risk.
AERO needs to prove it can attract organic trading volume without relying too heavily on token emissions and external incentives.
if revenue grows faster than supply dilution, while liquidity expands across chains, i think AERO could see a meaningful rerating.
i'm still leaning toward $UNI for long-term exposure, but $AERO has a catalyst that could make the next few months interesting.
$AERO vs $UNI – Which one is worth holding long term?
A few days ago, someone asked me which token I'd rather hold for the long term, $AERO or $UNI.
both generate real revenue, but their tokenomics and growth potential are quite different
so here's how I'm looking at them
[1] @aeroxyz – $AERO
Aerodrome has become a major liquidity hub on Base
latest 30D snapshot:
– $14.38B DEX volume
– $11.41M trading fees
– $7.61M protocol revenue
– ~$896M MC
– MC / annualized revenue ~9.8x
the ve(3,3) model distributes trading fees and voting incentives to veAERO holders.
that's attractive for users willing to lock their tokens
but there's a trade-off
AERO emissions were ~$11.8M over 30D, higher than reported protocol revenue
I'm watching whether Aerodrome can keep growing organic liquidity while reducing reliance on incentives
the Aero / MetaDEX03 expansion is another potential catalyst
[2] @Uniswap – $UNI
Uniswap has a much larger trading footprint across multiple chains
latest 30D snapshot:
– $79.47B DEX volume
– $129.48M trading fees
– $10.14M protocol revenue
– ~$4.36B MC
– MC / annualized revenue ~35.8x
the UNI burn mechanism has changed how I evaluate this token
protocol fees now flow into TokenJar, with UNI burned through Firepit to release those assets
so higher protocol revenue can translate into more UNI being burned
Robinhood Chain is also becoming a major fee contributor
I see room for further growth as Uniswap expands fee capture across chains and V4 pools
[3] My long-term allocation
I'd buy both, but with different weights
– 60% $UNI
– 40% $AERO
UNI gets the larger allocation because of its multi-chain reach, deeper liquidity and token burn mechanism
AERO offers a lower revenue multiple and potentially more upside from Base and Aero expansion, but emissions and lockup dynamics add risk
ofc, neither is risk-free, and reported protocol revenue ≠ net returns for token holders.
I'll keep tracking revenue growth, net token supply and whether actual usage continues to scale
The conservative estimates for AERO getting small market share (<5%) on new chains alone would cause this to re-rate to ATHs from here
Main risks are execution and launch going smoothly, don't see a more asymmetric spot in the market when the conservative estimates put it much higher and the middling/bullish scenarios aren't unrealistic at all
While I do think the argument around permissioned defi as an end game is becoming stronger, the timeframe around this is not relevant and aero could easily be at $5+ before any of these arguments materialize against their metrics

the way you can conceptualize the $AERO thesis along levers that compound (this is less of a trade and more of a longer term fundamentals perspective)
1) overall market price (majors and most alts still in nasty drawdown) > 2-3x
2) volume (chains, stocks, FX) and wallet share expansion (versus uniswap) > 3-5x, could be much higher
on top you should consider
3) multiple expansion due to reduced fee vol given stocks
4) premium for innovation (predictive liquidity, burns, new partnerships)
5) david/goliath narrative - they don’t talk about this enough but they are one of the few defi projects that actually didn’t sell out to VCs and yet still is hungry
base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 looks primed to rip higher over the next 10 days before the Aero upgrade
I had previously weighted base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 slightly lower in my core positions because I worried that the tokenomics were too complicated for institutions and whales to understand and feel comfortable bidding.
@citrini not only included base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 in their token basket, they had it at the same weight as $HYPE and nearly twice the weight of ethereum:0x1f9840a85d5af5bf1d1762f925bdaddc4201f984. Don't think the market has fully digested how much that stamp of approval means.
I also worried that there could be some last minute delay, as the previous Aero launch date delay led to a considerable nuke.
With the greenlight for launch on 10/21 and the recognition from Citrini, both of those risks are removed, and I now feel considerably higher conviction on base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631.
Previously to the Citrini piece, I expected most people to stay sidelined and wait for the flywheel to fundamentally prove itself post Aero upgrade. @wagmiAlexander expects spot volumes to roughly double by EOY, so that was my timeline where a rerating would organically occur without speculative fervor.
I'm now of the opinion that this recent bit of attention will cause price to lead fundamentals, and we might actually get a real pre-upgrade breakout.
The early August 2025 price action where base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 doubled from $0.75 to $1.50 in just 10 days is a good example of what I think could happen in the pre-upgrade window. Due to how much supply is locked in LPs and veAERO, base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 is naturally extremely reflexive.
It's very difficult to justify why ethereum:0x1f9840a85d5af5bf1d1762f925bdaddc4201f984 is trading at 5x the market cap of base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631. I don't expect parity until after the upgrade, but I do think there's a world where base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 rerates to 50% of ethereum:0x1f9840a85d5af5bf1d1762f925bdaddc4201f984 market cap as the sidelined scramble to get exposure prior to the 10/21 upgrade. This coincides nicely with a run at the previous base:0x940181a94a35a4569e4529a3cdfb74e38fd98631 ATH of ~$2.30.

Aerodrome is clearly the fastest growing DEX for stock trading 🛫
Going from 9% → 40% of all EVM trading volume in the past 30 days
Expect this trend to continue.
Tokenized stock DEX volume growth by venue, past 24 hours 📈
@aeroxyz Slipstream led with +$18.4M, followed by @Uniswap V3 (+$14.4M) and @PancakeSwap (+$6.2M).

Highlights on @citrini's selection: 8 major revenue generators over 15 tokens
Valuation by cost Holders' Revenue* (P/FCFt 30D):
🥇@aerodrome's $AERO 5.7x, max-locked veAERO rev
🥈@pendle_fi's $PENDLE 16.1x, vePENDLE** rev
🥉@uniswap's $UNI 36.0x, $UNI buybacks rev
*Lower number corresponds to higher token holder's revenue more per unit of token price: 5.7x means that $1 of revenue/year requires owning $5.7 of token equivalent
**vePENDLE is taken since the majority of @pendle_fi revenue is still distributed to vePENDLE, not sPENDLE
