TO REBEL AGAINST ROME IS TO REBEL AGAINST CHRIST
INTRODUCTION:
In an age that questions authority and glorifies individualism, defying the authority Christ established through the See of Peter endangers the soul.
St. Optatus, a 4th-century Church Father, warned:
“Anyone who set up another see against this one see [Rome] would be a schismatic and a sinner.” (Against the Donatists, Book 2, §2)
To oppose the Roman Pontiff knowingly and willfully is to tear at the seamless garment of Christ (cf. John 19:23–24). It is spiritual suicide.
SECTION I: The Donatist Rebellion and Optatus’s Defense of Rome
In the 4th century, the Donatists split from the Catholic Church in North Africa, rejecting valid sacraments and setting up a rival hierarchy against Rome.
St. Optatus condemned this schism:
“The first episcopal see was set up in Rome, which was occupied by Peter, the head of all the Apostles… so that in this one see unity might be preserved by all.”
Peter received primacy to safeguard unity. Schism is a grave rupture from Christ’s Body.
SECTION II: The Biblical Mandate for Unity Under Peter
Christ established the Roman See on divine authority:
•Matthew 16:18–19: “You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church… I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven.”
•Luke 22:32: “I have prayed for you, Peter, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brethren.”
•John 21:15–17: “Feed my lambs… Tend my sheep… Feed my sheep.”
Rejecting this visible shepherd rejects Christ’s plan for His Church.
SECTION III: The Theological Gravity of Schism
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (§2089) defines schism as “the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.”
Scripture warns:
•1 Corinthians 1:10–13: “Is Christ divided?”
•Romans 16:17: “Watch out for those who cause divisions… Keep away from them.”
Schism dismembers Christ’s Mystical Body and, if unrepented, endangers the soul.
SECTION IV: Historical Examples
•Novatianists (3rd century): Denied forgiveness for the lapsed; excommunicated for rejecting Rome.
•Donatists (4th century): Created a parallel Church, condemned by Optatus.
•Eastern Schism (1054): Refusal of papal authority caused lasting division.
•Protestant Revolt (16th century): Luther and others rejected papal primacy.
No justification sanctifies separation from the See of Peter.
SECTION V: Modern Dangers and Catholic Complacency
Today, subtle schism grows through open defiance of papal teaching, “traditionalist” or “progressive” movements flirting with separation, doctrinal dissent, or sedevacantism.
Scripture commands:
•Titus 3:10: “After admonishing him once or twice, have nothing more to do with him.”
•Hebrews 13:17: “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls.”
Public criticism that undermines the Pope while claiming loyalty to Christ is false. There is no loyalty to Christ without obedience to His Vicar.
SECTION VI: The Road Back from Rebellion
Schism is grave, yet the Church offers mercy to the repentant:
•John 17:21: “That they may all be one…”
•2 Corinthians 5:20: “Be reconciled to God.”
•James 5:19–20: “Whoever brings back a sinner… will save his soul from death.”
Return to Peter, and you return to Christ. Reject Peter, and you reject the Shepherd who chose him.
CONCLUSION: The One Chair of Unity or the Many Thrones of Pride
St. Optatus warned that setting up another see makes one a schismatic and sinner — a teaching for every age.
In a fragmented world of self-styled doctrines, the Rock of Peter remains the visible center of unity. The Pope is not optional to Catholicism; communion with him is essential.
“He who hears you, hears me; he who rejects you, rejects me.” – Luke 10:16
To be truly Catholic is to remain in communion with the Successor of Peter. Anything else is rebellion against Christ.

Revelation 12:1 — “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”
The woman is Mary (mother of the male child who rules the nations — v. 5).
She is already in heaven, body and soul.
Right before that, Rev 11:19 shows the Ark of the Covenant in heaven — and every Church Father knew Mary is the new Ark who carried God Himself.
Enoch (Gen 5:24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11) were assumed bodily into heaven.
The Mother of God gets less?
The early Church believed this from the beginning.
No tomb of Mary has EVER existed.
The dogma of the Assumption is the infallible teaching of the One True Church founded by Christ.
Your move, SDA.

The male sex is nobler than the female sex. That is why Christ assumed human nature as a man. At the same time, so that the female sex would not be despised, it was fitting that He should take His flesh from a woman.

Lord, give us the zeal with which your Sacred Heart burns; give us also a profound humility that makes us always adhere to you more while we become detached from ourselves; give us the meekness that will make souls accept what we say to them for the glory of your Father and for their own salvation. Grant us a more intimate union with your Sacred Heart present in the Eucharist, and guide us toward that wholly divine configuration that will make us your brothers and sisters for eternity.

Bede, in his commentary on Genesis, states: There are four senses of Sacred Scripture:
history, which recounts events as they occurred;
allegory, in which one thing is understood by means of another;
tropology, or moral interpretation, which deals with the ordering of our conduct; and
anagogy, by which we are lifted up to the highest and heavenly realities when treating of what is above (QQ 8.6.2)

Did you know the Catholic Church celebrates the miraculous apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel on May 8–the same day Pope Leo XIV was elected?
Saint Michael the Archangel miraculously appeared four times on Mount Gargano, Italy, and therefore dedicated his own basilica, the Sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo.
Saint Michael’s First Apparition:
Between the third and eighth centuries, legend says that while a wealthy man named Gargano tended his animals, one of his bulls escaped and wandered off alone. Angered at finding the bull grazing by himself in front of a cave, he shot a poisoned arrow at it.
The arrow then turned around and hit him! Gargano was so disturbed that he told the bishop about his experience.
The bishop then ordered three days of prayer and fasting. On the final day, Saint Michael appeared to the bishop.
Saint Michael said:
“I am the Archangel Michael, and I am always in the presence of God. The cave is sacred to me. Where the rock is thrown open, the sins of men can be forgiven. What will be asked here in prayer will be granted.”
Saint Michael’s Second Apparition:
Saint Michael then appeared again in 492.
Traditionally, the Duke of Benevento defeated the Greeks on May 8, and the battle was “accompanied by earthquakes, thunderbolts and lightning.”
The Catholic Church celebrates May 8 as the feast of the anniversary of the apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel.
Saint Michael’s Dedication & Third Appearance:
Saint Michael appeared again and said:
“It is not your task to consecrate the Basilica I built. I who founded it, I myself consecrated it.”
This basilica is also known as the “Celestial Basilica” because Saint Michael dedicated it himself.
Saint Michael’s Fourth Apparition:
In 1656, southern Italy experienced a terrible plague. Bishop Alfonso Puccinelli resorted to prayers and fasting and asked for Saint Michael’s intercession.
Saint Michael appeared to him and ordered him to bless the stones of his cave.
“Anyone who had devotedly kept those stones with him would have been immune to the plague.”
Saint Michael then cured the city.
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

NASA accidentaly proved the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Yes you read it right. Ignore all the UFO and alien talk, this is what you should be talking about.
According to the Gospels, specifically Luke 23:44–45, a mysterious darkness descended over the land starting at "the sixth hour" (noon) and lasting until "the ninth hour" (3:00 p.m.). Traditionally, this period of midday gloom has been distinguished from a standard solar eclipse, which lasts only minutes. Instead, it is described as a supernatural or atmospheric shroud occurring while Jesus remained on the Cross.
The "Blood Moon" of April 3
As evening fell on that same day, astronomical models confirm that a partial lunar eclipse was visible from Jerusalem. A "Blood Moon" occurs during a lunar eclipse when the Earth blocks direct sunlight from reaching the moon; the only light reflected from the lunar surface is filtered through Earth’s atmosphere, which scatters shorter blue wavelengths and allows longer red wavelengths to pass through.
This scientific reality aligns with the words of the Apostle Peter in Acts 2:20, who, citing the prophet Joel, declared that "the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood" before the coming of the great day of the Lord.
Modern calculations from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory allow historians to "rewind" the sky to the first century. Their data confirms several key factors for Friday, April 3, 33 AD:
Visibility: The eclipse began below the horizon, meaning that as the moon rose over Jerusalem that evening, it would have already appeared "eclipsed" or deeply crimsoned.
The Jewish Calendar: This date coincides perfectly with the 14th of Nisan, the preparation day for Passover, which is the specific timeframe recorded for the Crucifixion.
Duration: The moon remained in the Earth's shadow for a significant portion of the rising, making the "blood" appearance a visible, public sign to the inhabitants of Judea.
The presence of a confirmed lunar eclipse on the most likely date of the Crucifixion suggests an extraordinary convergence. While the midday darkness (noon to 3 p.m.) remains a unique phenomenon beyond standard orbital patterns, the evening Blood Moon provides a verifiable astronomical "timestamp" that grounds the biblical account in physical history.

On April 29, 1991, at 11:00 a.m., a sergeant from the Military Police entered the parish rectory in Salgueiro, Pernambuco, in Brazil, and shot the parish priest five times. Death was immediate.
The priest was 63 years old. His name was Father José Maria Prada, and he died because he refused to officiate an invalid marriage.
Born in 1928 in northeastern Portugal, Father José Maria joined the Redemptorists at a young age and was ordained a priest in 1953. Two years later, he left as a missionary to Angola, where he spent more than two decades serving the people through a demanding life of missionary work.
He later came to Brazil, serving first in the interior of São Paulo before being sent to the backlands of Pernambuco in the 1980s. After ministering in several cities, he eventually arrived in Salgueiro, where he became pastor of Saint Anthony Parish.
Those who knew him remember him as a simple priest—close to the people and unwavering in his convictions.
The situation began like many others: a man approached the priest seeking to be married in the Church.
Father José Maria did what any faithful priest would do—he investigated the situation. He soon discovered that the man was already sacramentally married to another woman.
The Church’s teaching is clear:
“Thus the marriage bond has been established by God himself in such a way that a marriage concluded and consummated between baptized persons can never be dissolved.” (CCC 1640).
Given the circumstances, there was nothing to negotiate. The answer was no.
The man persisted, returning several times. He tried pressure, offering money, and finally threats.
But Father José Maria would not yield. He did not alter records, minimize the situation, or look for a “shortcut.”
According to reports from the time, he even said he would rather die than celebrate that marriage.
On April 29, the sergeant returned.
He entered the rectory and opened fire.
There ended the life of a priest who remained faithful to his beliefs until the very end.
The funeral drew the bishop, priests from across the region, and a multitude of faithful Catholics.
One detail deeply moved those present: the bloodstained shirt Father José Maria was wearing at the time of the murder was carried at the front of the funeral procession.
Nothing needed to be explained. It said everything.
His heart was later preserved in Saint Anthony Church beneath the inscription:
“Martyr for the sanctity of marriage.”
To this day, there is no formal beatification process underway in Rome. Yet the memory of Father José Maria remains alive in the community.
It is not difficult to understand why.
He did not die over a mere formality. He died defending something concrete: fidelity to marriage, the truth of the sacraments, and the unity between faith and life.
His story recalls that of John the Baptist, who was also killed for refusing to legitimize an unlawful union.
This is not merely a story from the past.
It still matters because it touches something every person eventually faces:
What do you do when telling the truth begins to cost you?
