i'd argue that's sort of the point? a young woman who was being abused had her identity rewritten as the "crazy fucked up girlfriend" explicitly because that's how guys like bear frame these relationships and how people assume they go?

and iirc we know killing renly soon after robert was part of the plan because after capturing ned the lannisters actively search for renly and just barely miss him fleeing king's landing as far as renly is concerned stannis just left him for dead, and honestly he sort of did

if he accepts the incest story, that only strengthens stannis' claim, if he feigns ignorance than legally him and stannis' claim are basically the same and are both usurping and he's pretty fucking mad at stannis right now, and has no logical reason to help his brother

love that david and kugrash aren't narratively made to be "all cool" by the end of usc1 i think it makes kug's final fate ring so much more true that he was willing to do what he did purely because it was the right thing to do, and not out of some bid to be remembered fondly

kind of wish she got to keep the sillier parts of her character i get that it doesn't really tonally match the freelancer saga,, but tex finds herself roped along with the reds and blues through bgc because she's secretly kind of a doofus too and i think that's endearing
