We can scarcely believe it but are v happy to announce that our developer @Bellwayhomes1 has AGREED TO FUND THE REMEDIATION of all the defects identified in our EWS1!!🥳🥳 This comes after multiple protests, letters, meetings, media items but we’re so happy our work has paid off!

- There had been a long process of working out whether or not the building needed remediation. First graded B1 under EWS1 (combustible but no remediation), then B2 (remediation recommended). PAS 9980 gave it 'medium' risk but recommended further testiing

More detail about the building in Poplar where a man died in a fire at the weekend:
- Building was fitted with combustible Hemsec insulated panels, which were non-compliant at the time of build (oddly described as 'inflammable' by the manufacturer)

Without legal support, residents face experienced teams who do this every day — and it shows.
This is about access to justice.

Minister @mtpennycook’s response is clear:
❌ Buybacks are still a lottery.
❌ The @UKLabour govt still doesn't have a plan to fix this.
Thousands remain trapped.
We need a statutory right to buybacks for unaffordable and unmortgageable homes.

David has exceptional evidence of service charge abuse by Peabody Housing but his experience is all too common. £500k of "missing" invoices, but Peabody and the like continue to enjoy government protections.

Thousands of shared owners are trapped in potentially unsafe blocks, facing escalating costs they cannot afford and unable to sell or even remortgage. They are left in limbo, with little to no meaningful support from their housing associations.
