Ignore the misinformation.
We need to fix a small number of specific flaws that the previous government knowingly left in its Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 to ensure that the enfranchisement measures in that piece of legislation can operate as intended.
We have made clear we intend to make those fixes through our forthcoming Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill.
Once we have done so and can implement the new valuation process, it will be cheaper and easier for leaseholders to extend their lease or buy their freehold.

If Labour cannot fix such an obvious injustice and show families whose living standards have been crushed that we will fight for them, then we shouldn’t be surprised if they lose faith that anything can change.

I’m not surprised Katie. Some management charges at blocks of flat are off the scale & make them very difficult to sell. Add the fact that many also have cladding issues thousands of people are locked in a trap they once called home. #Property #PropertyManagement

As expected, @mtpennycook has now tabled a Government amendment to remove it.
