Ok, I think I’ve found a library who are interested in carrying out this digitization project. I won’t say too much until it’s confirmed, but now we need someone at the National Archives of Egypt to reach out to for a collaboration. If you’ve ever done research involving the…

We need more of this. Please. Not more concessions, not more moral calculus, not fewer trans kids playing sports or getting medical care, not more scapegoating queer people. We need more politicians that believe we’re human beings and will fight for us because they love us.

MSNOW: What is your message now to Jewish voters nationally and what you will do to protect them?
Abdul El-Sayed: I’m committed to Jewish safety, and we are united against discrimination. The U.S. spends billions to carry out genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. The genocide in Gaza with our complicity is continuing right now. Nobody wants to talk about that.

A striking stat re AIPAC performance in the midterms. In 2022, almost 70% of its funds went into races where it got the desired result. In 2024, it was 87%. In 2026, that figure is 34%.

Sometimes, letting Muslim Brotherhood Islamists win elections in the West may be the harshest lesson democracy can teach its own voters. Let people discover the true face of the ideology they voted for: the intolerance disguised as tolerance, the extremism dressed up as progress, and the backwardness sold as a brighter future.
Look at the turmoil in France. Look at the political battles unfolding in Britain, or “Britainstan,” as some now call it. One day, those who voted for extremism may discover that the ballot they cast in the name of progress became a vote against their own freedoms.
The tragedy of democracy is that people sometimes have to experience the consequences of their choices before they understand the value of what they had.
Civilization is easy to take for granted until you realize what it takes to defend it.

It’s literally you in this photo. You and J-Street threatened anyone in DC who wanted to back a ceasefire
Tonight's emerging election results are telling a powerful story about the changing politics of Israel and Palestine in America.
Much of the conventional wisdom about Jewish voters, the Democratic Party and the political power of AIPAC has been turned on its head. Here are five big takeaways:
1. No great migration of Jewish voters. We won't have final results from J Street's biennial Jewish voter exit poll until Thursday, but early numbers I'm seeing indicate that once again Jewish Americans are voting at or above 70% Democratic. The much-discussed, so-called "exodus" of Jewish voters from the Democratic Party once again hasn't materialized.
2. J Street is now the political center of gravity on Israel and Palestine in the Democratic Party. When the new Congress convenes, nearly two-thirds of the Democrats in the House and Senate will be J Street-endorsed. These members are the mainstream of the party: committed to Israel's security and existence, to Palestinian rights and self-determination, and to a US policy that advances both. AIPAC, meanwhile, was losing endorsed candidates so rapidly that it ultimately decided to abandon candidate endorsements altogether.
3. The extremes are just that: marginal. There will be a small handful of Democrats who reject any meaningful US-Israel security relationship. And there will be a limited number of others who remain unwilling to challenge Israeli government policies, no matter how destructive those policies are. Neither represents where the heart of the Democratic Party rests today.
4. J Street's political muscle helped create space for that growing consensus. We endorsed 200 candidates for the House and Senate and invested more than $13 million in their campaigns – not just to support our candidates but to defeat some of AIPAC's most prominent endorsees. Our success tonight demonstrates the political power of a new politics that supports both Israelis and Palestinians – and strengthens American democracy.
5. Those who argue that AIPAC lost traction in the Democratic Party because Democrats turned against Israel miss the point – it's AIPAC that fell out of step with Democrats. Its insistence that support for Israel means defending its government, right or wrong, and its willingness to pour enormous sums of money into Democratic primaries made AIPAC – not support for Israel – increasingly unwelcome.
Looking ahead, J Street intends to translate this new political reality into a new American policy – one that supports Israel's security, Palestinian freedom and the future of both peoples. That's the approach that represents the center of American Jewish opinion and the Democratic Party. And J Street is at its heart.

There may have been East Germanic languages more distantly related from the rest of Germanic than even Wulfilan Gothic. An interesting example is found in the form hamedii ‘conjuratores’, where ham- lacks Verner’s law voicing and keeps the original nasal -m!

I cant stress that I never once heard anything about unity at any door I knocked in the multiple swing districts I canvassed in and all of which turned blue.
Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

One of the biggest dangers for Democrats right now is centrists making up a fake story about why they won and then telling themselves that until they believe it and lose again. That's a big part of what happened to Biden.
For such an important region in world history, DNA studies of ancient Middle Eastern populations are astonishingly rare. I suppose it’s a mix of poor conditions for human remains preservation, and fewer local institutions capable of such studies similar to Europe and China
