Saturday thoughts (related to the GSEs because it's the most glaring inconsistency in American business).
The United States has the best economic system in the world. Legal and financial rules set the lanes so people can use their creative force to form companies and generate massive economic value with products people want. The market economy takes care of the rest.
In my Stanford Business School classes, professors loved to say, “If the dogs eat the dog food, there is value in it. If not, pivot.” Superfluous metaphor for humans aside, the main point stands: if an entrepreneur creates value and manages his company and product well, there is a place for it in the market, and he, together with the owners/shareholders of his company, will be rewarded. Shareholders provide the capital needed to build the business after all.
Our business school education is rigorous in mathematics, accounting, and finance, which itself is somewhat of a mix between hard sciences and a liberal art. Financial projections- pro formas, about the future are often wildly optimistic, or pessimistic, and completely miss the mark. Financial accounting, however, is a set of well-established principles and rules for everyone to follow, INCLUDING our government.
To that end, I was shocked to see how little financial literacy our legal arbiters possess. The judges ruling on the Fannie/Freddie's net worth sweep initiated by the Obama Administration in 2013 displayed a novice understanding of balance sheets and P&Ls. It’s possible the government attorneys knew that Deferred Tax Asset write downs and Net Worth Sweep mechanics would fly over the judges’ heads, and used that to arbitrage that naiveté and win HERA’s anti-injunction 12 U.S.C. § 4617(f) cases that should have been won by the shareholders. Though the shareholders won one big case recently with the breach of implied covenants.
So how do you value $30B+ in annual profits and growing? That’s Fannie and Freddie every year. Why are the companies in conservatorship under the most pro-business President of our time? Is this a capitalist approach? If so, why do students go to business school? Are regulatory captures, nationalizations, and conservatorships the norm now? @pulte, @SecScottBessent, @realDonaldTrump
Correct.
Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be.
Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them.
Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week.
Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact.
Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia.
SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR.
That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell.
End of story.

BREAKING: Cancer Curing peptide Senomune-0257 just completed pre-clinical studies successfully, promising human trials by end of year.
This new peptide mimics cells which attack cancers, amplifying the bodies natural immune response!
This is a fantastic F2 idea for the Trump Administration that achieves multiple objectives:
1. Give the youth skin in the game—capitalist principles, leading by example—by letting them own shares in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac through Trump accounts.
2. Unlock $400B of value for American taxpayers without delay or a bureaucratic middle layer (prior to the 2028 election).
3. Restore trust in the public markets by returning the GSEs to the NYSE, where they belong, functioning as the public utilities they are, regulated by FHFA.
4. Take off the table the political risk of AOC, Bernie, and Warren running these companies and using them to discriminate against a large segment of the population.

We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence.

I thought AT&T CEO said they were innovators and disruptors?
AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile are jointly lobbying the FCC to preserve existing rules as @SpaceX moves closer to launching its own independent cellular network that would compete directly with the three major U.S. carriers.
On Oct 20th, reps from all three major U.S. wireless carriers met with FCC officials to push back against proposed changes that would give satellite companies more freedom to offer cellular service.
The carriers urged the FCC to:
• Block satellite companies from using certain 5G frequencies currently used by wireless carriers.
• Keep rules requiring satellite companies to get permission from wireless carriers before using their licensed spectrum.
• Allow wireless carriers to maintain control over these agreements, including the ability to end them.
• Reconsider proposed interference limits to protect existing cellular networks.
Based on all the public communications from these carriers, and the lobbying, they are clearly worried that SpaceX's @Starlink Mobile network is going to be a major competitor to them. Starlink Mobile will become the first network operator to deploy both satellite and terrestrial spectrum.
The FCC recently announced that they are considering new rules that could make it easier for satellite companies like SpaceX to offer cellular service without relying as heavily on existing wireless carriers, so this is partly what the three big carriers are fighting against.
What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people.
The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

BREAKING: SpaceX is reportedly seeking access to at least 80,000 U.S. cell tower sites as it prepares to launch a nationwide wireless carrier.
Perhaps I overweigh this, but I believe Elon must be hyper-focused to deliver on the insanely ambitious plans he has for SpaceX and Tesla. If nothing else, this alone is the #1 reason for a SpaceX and Tesla merger: to reduce the Democratic attack surface on the founder. Tesla shareholders must support this deal.

Last month, we demonstrated high-rate alchemy: turning mercury into real, stable gold, beating CERN’s record by a factor of 10.
Last week, we enriched isotopes in the world’s most powerful plasma centrifuge, beating the Soviet record that stood for 40 years.
Now, we’re building a fusion reactor in San Francisco to achieve record power density.

@BillAckman with epically bullish commentary on Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac this A.M.
All the bases were beautifully covered. Thank you once again for your tireless advocacy, Mr. Ackman!
No chance DJT leaves F2 up for grabs at the risk of a democratic administration potentially regaining control.
Shout out to @CaliRefugee1 for continually banging that drum!
Not if...but when.
Tick, tock.
GLTA.
Bill, you were a verbal ninja on @CNBC, especially on Fannie and Freddie. The conservatorship exit argument is so persuasive, it’s hard to understand how Trump would ever risk passing the GSEs on to AOC in 2028 if Dems win. So many wins for everyone involved if the companies simply get back on the NYSE with a resolved capital structure! Nice to see Bessent and Pulte publicly acknowledge this as a priority next year.

Replying to @JonOksenholt
There’s a huge political risk to inaction here. The administration keeps pointing out $FNMA and $FMCC are printing cash and worth a trillion dollars. If they do nothing and Democrats take back power in 2028, they’re literally leaving a massive war chest on the table for a liberal agenda. Regardless of Bessent’s risk aversion, moving soon is the only way to prevent the exact “waste, fraud, and abuse” they rail against.

This is what it’s all been for. 🚀
