Breaking tonight: Cornell officials say they don’t know if the $1 billion reported by NYT is correct, but confirmed 75 stop work orders from the Department of Defense on a wide, wide range of research.

Well now I’m rooting for a work stoppage or lockout. We must stop this sport.

Interesting place for a midterm rally. In this media market: NY-22 (D incumbent, not very competitive), NY-24 (R held, not competitive), NY-19 (D held, not very competitive).

This is Cereese Qusba, the hero investigative journalist for the Cornell Daily Sun who doggedly pursued the story about the Cornell 7 for two years, blowing the lid off what had happened when her article was finally published on the 19th.. With so many dark posts about such a horrific incident, Ms. Qusba’s work shows the importance of journalism in accountability. She is the best of Cornell.

There’s obviously a healthy lifestyle component to this, but *everyone* should be getting their lipoprotein(a) levels tested. It’s very genetic and you can’t really change your level, but if it’s high you should know now. I’m not sure many non-specialist doctors are onto it yet.

Spotlight team in shambles.
Per a note to Boston Globe staff today, the lesbian bar story generated 1,000 subscriptions to the paper yesterday. The Globe’s managing editor said it was “by far our best performing story of the year,” and appears to be “on pace to shatter all sorts of Globe records.”

Senator Collins’ office says we “took the word of someone who pled guilty,” but ProPublica conducted its own investigation of the former CEO’s assertions. We have the receipts. Our reporters independently corroborated much of the account by former Navatek CEO Martin Kao by reviewing a trove of evidence, legal records and interviewing dozens of people. And we reported that anti-corruption agents at the FBI were asking questions about Susan Collins as recently as late 2024. But after the reelection of President Trump, the FBI and DOJ teams handling public corruption probes were dismantled. Here is the full story: propublica.org/article/fbi-s…
The seven-year-old allegations made against Senator Collins and her staff in this piece are categorically false. There have never been any allegations of wrongdoing by the Collins for Senator campaign, and the campaign was never the target of the FBI investigation. ProPublica took the word of someone who pled guilty to five counts of money laundering, three counts of wire fraud, one count of bank fraud, and making false submissions to the FEC. As Martin Kao was awaiting sentencing, he began making outlandish charges about the Collins office, deflecting blame from himself and placing it on Senator Collins, including alleging that our office required contributions before taking meetings and engaged in extortion, pay for play, and bribery. The FBI and the Court obviously did not believe Kao, and in 2025 he was sentenced in two separate cases to prison terms of seven years and three years to be served concurrently, as well as an additional five years of supervised release at the end of his prison term. It is important to note that during the Biden Administration the FBI and the Department of Justice thoroughly investigated the Navatek matter. The Collins campaign cooperated fully with the FBI throughout the investigation, producing all of the documents it requested and serving as fact witnesses in official settings. In response to the allegations in the ProPublica piece, the FBI clearly stated that a suggestion of wrongdoing by Senator Collins or her staff is “totally false.” These issues were resolved in 2021, and the FBI has not contacted us about Martin Kao since then.

Progressives in Delaware won 6/8 of their targeted races, fitting end to primary season. (They were helped by base anger at a business friendly incorporation law written to stop other CEOs from following Elon out of the state.) semafor.com/article/03/05/20…

The Clippers continuing to call Pulitzer prize winning reporting "podcast allegations" as a way to diminish its veracity is beyond embarrassing. But real reporting is believing the bull---- they were peddling?
The Clippers say this letter has been sent to Adam Silver. “This investigation has been flawed from the outset. And your decision to issue this report without any notice to the Clippers or their counsel is inexcusable.”
