Each survivor of grooming gangs receives roughly £48 per year through state support—barely enough to cover one therapy session.
These women endured unimaginable abuse, forced pregnancies, and abortions as young teenagers.
The state could and should do so much more for them.

The fact that climate change & how to fix it is not the number one story every single day is proof of something deep & scarily wrong with our society.
Wet bulb temperatures on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday could exceed >25°C widely.
This is the critical threshold for vulnerable populations (elderly, infants, or individuals with chronic illnesses). It is also the point where anyone performing moderate to heavy physical labor or outdoor sports faces an exceptionally high risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
The older I get, the more I realise that a huge amount of adulthood is just people confidently talking nonsense
I magine dating someone for 3 years through / after uni, you live together in a flat share then break up and they now have access to half your pension 😂
I bet 3.4million of the 3.5 million couples don't actually want the legal ramifications of marriage & why they didn't get...
I’d like to correct @DavidLammy on ‘weddings cost around £20k’. It’s actually £62 for a statutory ceremony at your local register office. One of life’s only remaining bargs!

@AmyNicks_ says that the idea that Britain will have to pay £1billion in order to have closer ties with the EU is good value for money.

I think @andytwelves deserves so many beers for single handedly ending MattGPT’s career, what a hero
If 1 million people are signing off work with mental health problems, instead of accusing them all of lying and exaggerating, why don't we have an actual conversation about why 1 million adults have mental health problems?

Iran was the third most common nationality of refugees on small boats in 2025.
It was the number 1 nationality of refugees coming to the uk in the last 20 years.
This chancer has made his career off the suffering of the “wonderful Persian people”
If you don’t think a heroin addict belongs in prison, you’re already halfway to supporting legalisation.
So can we stop the lazy “they’ll be selling it in Boots” commentary? That’s not what anyone serious is proposing.

This is just nasty, Luddite misanthropy. Where does it end? My babies were created in test tubes, is my motherhood splintered? This puritanical obsession with biology is so out of step with most people's view of how love between mother and child is formed. We're not animals.
This is being hailed as ‘progress’ & it is—progress towards what @SurrogConcern calls the ‘splintering of motherhood’. From egg donation to surrogacy to womb transplants, the reduction of reproduction to body parts & test tubes is a choice to break sacred bond between mum & baby.

I am delighted to a panelist on the @Mattallwright show on @channel5_tv today at 12.50pm, alongside @AmyNicks_ . With all that is happening at the moment it will prove to be a very interesting show.
Ordinary background ≠ ordinary person.
I don’t want a normal working class woman as PM.
Being PM is not a normal job for a normal skill set. It demands rare judgement, exceptional resilience and outstanding courage – the ability to make decisions under relentless pressure.
An ambitious country should not seek a normal working class lass.

BREAKING 🚨: Reform have been caught potentially cheating in the up coming Gorton & Denton by election. Residents have received a letter from a 'local pensioner'.
There is no Reform Party branding on the letter
Keir Starmer (rightly) told Boris Johnson over Chris Pincher: if you put someone with immoral baggage into power, that’s on you. He then read a victim’s account in Parliament to show the real harm and real responsibility.
By his own rules, that’s exactly why he has to go.
Surely if you have anxiety the rollercoaster is more of a problem than the queue.
