When I first raised Poundland last week, I was told by Westminster talking heads and the Tories that it was certainly “kaput” and the 12,000 jobs must all inevitably go. Some leaned in, arguing the “creative destruction” would be good. Others made a stupid straw man argument that I was proposing to nationalise it. As if you can’t even question bosses when so much is at stake. They showed scant interest in the workers, suppliers or frankly the taxpayer. My point was, and remains, why should a business be put into administration when there appears to be multiple offers to buy it as a going concern on the table? That doesn’t seem to be in the best interest of the taxpayer, the workers or the suppliers. The taxpayer alone stands to lose hundreds of millions if this business needlessly goes under with unpaid taxes and benefits. And since I made this argument, we’ve learnt of more potential offers. There has been another in the last 24 hours. As of today, there appear to be at least three bidders - maybe four. I can’t opine on their credibility, but it doesn’t suggest Poundland is “kaput”. Gordon Brothers haven’t responded to my letter. They need to account for their actions. I’m pleased my intervention has promoted others to enter the fray, in government and in parliament. A government that cares about working people asks searching questions in these situations. It doesn’t throw workers to the wolves. That’s not anti-business, contrary to what some out of touch ideologues say. You can bet they would take a different view if it was a different type of business to Poundland. The employees of firms like this are to them, as a former Prime Minister once said to me when I was arguing over a similar point, “just fungible low wage workers”. Reform UK is the party of working people. We’ll unashamedly stand up for them. To defend free markets, you sometimes have to expose their excesses. Let’s hope raising this can save as many jobs as possible at Poundland this Christmas.

Have you noticed? They say there’s no money for prisons, schools & national defence but they found £10 billion for Boriswave migrants, £570 million for a Brexit reset & £40 million for “reparations”.

🧵 The Westminster rumour mill, myself included, spent the last forty-eight hours tracking the highly-sourced back-channel whispers that Nigel Farage was about to hand the Reform UK defence brief to a celebrity Special Boat Service operator. While the specific name on that intelligence ultimately missed the mark in the midnight embargo, the underlying strategic thesis was entirely accurate. Farage's. Reform UK was indeed hunting for a kinetic outsider, but he bypassed the media circus to execute a profoundly more ruthless manoeuvre against the Ministry of Defence. By appointing Wing Commander Angus MacIntyre, Reform has deliberately sidestepped the traditional pipeline of compliant, media-trained, retired four-star generals who have comfortably overseen the managed decline of our national lethality. From a purely analytical standpoint, this represents a total institutional rejection of polite Whitehall managerialism. MacIntyre is an operator possessing the exact ground-truth credibility required to audit a catastrophically broken system from the outside in.

🚨 Reforms Defence spokesman 🫡 Angus MacIntyre, 40 years in uniform. Frontline in Crossmaglen, Afghanistan, Iraq and more 🎖️ More real experience than the entire government defence team combined. An operator, not a career politician. Exactly what defence needs 💪🏻 Compare that to Wes Streeting with zero military experience, and a boss that reckons social security comes before national security 🤦🏻‍♂️

The Lib Dem leader has reported me. For what? For doing my job. I represented my residents. I called this application in. I objected. I helped bring in the Article 4 that lets us stop HMOs across the county. I pushed for this from day one. She abstained. Then complained about the man who didn't. I won't apologise. Not now, not ever. Annfield Plain isn't a box on a spreadsheet to me. These are my people, and I'll go as far as it takes to stand up for them. Report me as often as you like. I'll keep turning up for this community long after the complaints are forgotten by failed Fib Dem so-called leaders.

For those of you who have followed me over the years, I used to be a Reform member but I let my membership lapse. The reasons were varied but I essentially preferred to not be tied down to a political party. After looking and trying other options, I realised that I remained a Reform supporter and voter. However, with things currently as they are: - Labour destroying the country and the economy. - The lying Tories going all out to do exactly the same. - The Restore Tory Psy-op working on behalf of the Tories. I have decided to rejoin Reform as a member. I have already had a discussion with the membership office, and I will be rejoining tomorrow morning.😁

In the hours after the midterms, it is worth saying this plainly: Elon Musk is about to be hit with a fresh wave of concentrated hostility, and the rest of us who value what he is actually building should not pretend otherwise. A man who was once treated as a progressive technological hero with electric cars, reusable rockets, and an open internet - has become, in the eyes of much of the left, an apostate. He bought Twitter and refused to keep the old speech rules. He ran DOGE and cut programs the left considered sacred. He warned, repeatedly and without euphemism, that demographic and institutional trends could lock in one party control. He put his own money behind the other side. For that, the hatred is now open and concentrated. Starship is still the only credible path to making life multiplanetary. Starlink still connects people the old infrastructure never reached. Tesla still forced the entire auto industry to confront electric vehicles. Neuralink and xAI are still early attempts at expanding what a human mind and an artificial one can do together. The people who want to punish the man for his politics have not offered a substitute for the work. They have only offered the punishment. Standing by him requires noticing the pattern. The same voices that once celebrated the green-car pioneer now treat the multiplanetary goal as a distraction or a vanity. The same institutions that spent years demanding more regulation of speech on private platforms now treat an open platform as the greater danger. The consistency is not in the principles; it is in the target. When a single person both builds the hardware of the future and refuses to stay inside the approved narrative, the response is not engagement. It is a campaign to make the cost of that refusal higher than the benefit of continuing. The simple fact is that no one else is currently doing the combination of things Elon Musk is doing at the same scale, and probably never will. When the response is punishment instead of alternatives, the work that actually expands the frontier slows or stops. I support Elon because the work matters more than the noise, and he is one of the few people who seems to genuinely want humanity to have a future. ♥️

We're still standing. But they—and their empires—are all gone: "The colonies will soon return to their allegiance." George III, 1775 "I don't see much future for the Americans." Hitler, 1942 "We will bury you." Khrushchev, 1956 "America is a paper tiger." bin Laden, 1998
The process of the US's collapse has accelerated.

Nearly nine months ago, my thoughts then on the policies and messaging that were necessary for midterm wins:
The key to victory in the midterms is continued focus on delivering for the "forgotten man and woman." In actions and words, this must be our first consideration. My February 14, 2017, lecture at @Cornell, "The roar of the forgotten man and woman": michaeljohns.substack.com/p/…
