My views on Covid, restrictions, masks, testing and the role governments play has changed wildly in the past 2 years. Has anyone not changed their positions on most Covid related things since Jan 20? I was pro lockdown, pro mask, pro governments stepping in, etc. Now I'm not.

Ron has never learned the meaning of either Public or Private apparently.
NH Democrats: “We don’t want to pay for your private schools!” NH Republicans: “That’s fine. How about we don’t pay for your public schools and you don’t pay for our private ones?” NH Democrats: “No, you still have to pay for the thing I want, I just don’t want to pay for the thing you want.” 🤡

First MAGA went apeshit over a totally fake story about Talrico - spreading it across their entire network and then blaming dems for supposedly making them do it. Then MAGA defends a child rapist and his wife who protected him over the kid who was raped. Now this outrages them.
This joke is just quintessentially Obama Sounds smart but is *really* dumb (CF looks nothing like Trump's golden aesthetic) Reveals that Obama is a huge snob Relies on his lefty audience's own sneering, phony sense of superiority

I'll have an early voting blog post up in a bit, but: On a day Rs expected to do well, Ds had their biggest gain Saturday. The current numbers: D+16,864, or 4.5%. Rurals closed today, so Rs will need to do well in urban Nevada to stanch the bleeding. Post coming...

In my book Kakistocracy, I note that Brazil locking up Bolsonaro after he attempted a coup put its democracy on a healthier course. Compare to America, where the prosecution took too long. Brazil dodged a bullet tonight. You can be right-wing! Stop trying to be authoritarians.

A patriot would put country over party and expel the senile orange fool from office.
New Gallup poll asks "which values the country most needs today?" Out of a list of 12 values, Republicans put "patriotism" #1, for Dems it ranks dead last - by a lot. Dems say "equality" is most needed, Republicans rank it 11th out of 12.

This is the type of thing which foretells a wave election - perhaps even a tidal wave. We'll have to see what actually happens, but basically every tea leaf is trending the same way.
Some of these partisan-turnout numbers among younger voters are nuts. In NC, 55,291 Dems (18-29yo) have voted; just 11,982 GOPers (18-29yo) have done so. In 2024, the two parties were almost even among 18-29 early voters. Does NCGOP expect those young GOPers to vote on E-Day?

All US elections should be ranked choice is basically the conclusion.
I mean, Hillary probably beats Trump if there were a runoff, right?

[Da'Shaun L. Harrison] told the event that GLP-1 drugs, such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, were a tool for “indoctrination” and are connected to “empire and imperialism” and “oftentimes about making bodies militarisable”. These people are utterly ridiculous. theaustralian.com.au/world/t…

Buying power has actually gone up for the average person over the past 10, 20, 30 and 40 years.
We CANNOT even afford hobbies. We CANNOT afford to go out with friends. We CANNOT afford to exist anywhere outside our homes. They then call it a mental health crisis. It's not. It's an affordability crisis.

Blinder & Watson (2016) found that there is superior economic performance under Democratic Party presidents thanks to fewer wars and energy shocks, which they seem to characterize as dumb luck or something but IMO reflects a genuine pattern. slowboring.com/p/republican-…

Amy Acton's mother pled guilty to a felony charge of theft by deception in the 1990s. She's literally a convicted liar. And this is the person Vance is saying can be trusted to "call it like it is."
JD Vance: "Now the media and the Democrats in the state of Ohio are obsessed because Vivek Ramaswamy had the audacity to run a TV commercial which calls it out like it is and calls Amy Acton a liar"

Correct. We all say how all the politicians we get are terrible. If you ran a company and all your potential hires were terrible you'd increase the pay to get better people applying. This is common sense. Hating politicians is the reason they should be paid more.
It's unpopular to say, but we now need to pay our politicians more. Take the US House. Their salaries have been frozen since 2009. In real terms, they've gone from a very respectable $300k to barely half that, $174k. That's much less than many could make in the private sector.

why do these posts always say "we speak faster than we write"? i definitely type WAY faster than i talk. do people use dictation tools because they're slow typists? or are most people better at verbal expression than i am?
Today we introduce Plato: the ring for near-silent speech. We speak faster than we write. But we can’t always say out loud what we’re thinking. Plato turns thought into action. Dictate. Transform. Delegate. Order now: plato.it.com. Limited supply.

Bravo to the kid
I’ve spent my career arguing parents should not have to pay extra to sit with their children on planes. I just flew to LA with two kids and we were split between two rows. A kind man next to me offered to switch with my son so he could sit with us. My son declined. 😒

If you're SUPER lucky on your next flight you'll get this person sitting next to you in the aisle who will gladly swap seats with you. Truly a unicorn.
What a bitch. Some people are terrified of flying, it costs nothing to switch seats. Then she takes a photo and posts it online? Christ.

When even Nancy Mace acknowledges that a bar for decency exists and you've failed to surpass it - it's time to disappear from society and never return. That level of humiliation is not something you can come back from. This woman bragged about killing her dog!
Nancy Mace: The bar is low and somehow Vivek Ramaswamy somehow managed to limbo under the lowest bar of decency in this country
