When people have the opportunity to share their experiences, their voices can shape conversations far beyond their communities. Through the Boxless Podcast Studio, young people, women, men, community leaders and professionals will engage in conversations on sexual and reproductive health and rights, maternal health, gender-based violence, youth empowerment, fatherhood, women’s leadership and community wellbeing. For young women, access to accurate information and respectful counselling is helping create the confidence to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and future plans. At Mshongoleni Dispensary, the A360 programme, through Binti Shupavu Clinic, is creating space for young mothers to discuss their aspirations, ask questions and understand the family planning options available to them. Through personalised counselling, they are exploring contraceptive methods and addressing common myths and misconceptions, with support tailored to their individual needs and circumstances. So far, 29 young mothers have voluntarily chosen a family planning method following these conversations. When an adolescent or young person experiences gender-based violence, knowing where to turn, who to trust and how to access support can make a meaningful difference. Through the TIKO programme, Nairobi County stakeholders came together to address gaps in GBV prevention, reporting, referral and access to services for young people. A key outcome was the development of a GBV Support Services Directory, providing clear information on available services and referral points. TIKO is now building on this work by strengthening private health facilities to identify, respond to and appropriately refer GBV cases, with a focus on adolescents and young people. TB can be missed when people don’t recognise the signs or screening is out of reach. That is why PS Kenya is taking TB detection beyond the health facility and into communities. Through the #TB programme, Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are helping households recognise possible TB symptoms, encouraging screening, following up household contacts and connecting people with presumptive TB to diagnosis and care. It is a shift from waiting for people to seek care to actively finding those who may otherwise be missed. By strengthening community-based detection and referral, the programme is helping find TB earlier and connect people to treatment sooner, contributing to Kenya’s ambition to reduce TB incidence by 90% by 2030. When malaria strikes, timely care can make all the difference. In Bungoma, PS Kenya is working to bring malaria prevention, testing and treatment closer to families. Through the malaria programme, Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are helping households recognise suspected malaria, seek testing early and access appropriate treatment, while connecting those who need further care to health facilities. The programme also strengthens CHPs through mentorship, supportive supervision and stronger links with health facilities, helping sustain quality malaria services at community level.
