Air Chief Marshal AP Singh ends his tenure tomorrow - among the finest Chiefs I have seen in 3 decades of covering the forces. Met him first when he headed the National Flight Test Centre's team of test pilots flying the Tejas. Excellent aviator, a very fine mind. Utterly unpretentious, spoke his mind - singularly determined to make changes where they mattered. Didn't want to kick the can down the road. Took on HAL directly with Tejas and made it clear - deliver what you promise or don't deliver at all. This was the man we needed at the helm for Op Sindoor. In an era of social media, foreign disinformation campaigns on X and a plain lack of understanding of how warfare happens, his reputation took a hit over IAF losses during Sindoor. The expectation was of a perfect record. That doesn't happen in military operations of the scale and intensity that we saw. Important to remember ACM Singh as the Chief who helmed the IAF's massive fight back which forced Pakistan to the ceasefire table. On May 10, 2025, the IAF hit Pakistan harder than at any point since the 1971 war, 54 years earlier. By about noon that day, the IAF was clearly on the ascendency, picking off high value targets at will. More than 10 airbases and air defence sites had been struck. An Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft had been shot down. IAF jets tasked with hitting even more targets had to abort their missions when Pak's DGMO picked up the hotline and said they had had enough. That will remain my abiding memory of Air Chief Marshal AP Singh.

Was at an Indian restaurant at 2.30 pm. Lunch closed at 2 pm. The door was closed but not locked. I saw a man inside. I asked him if something was available. He told me to step in asked what I would like to have. A few chefs were cleaning up. He told his chefs to make what I asked for. He was free so I asked him his story.
He was from a small village in Uttarakhand, bordering Nepal. He came to Australia in 1988 as a cook. He worked in the state capital. He was posted in restaurants in a radius of 700km once in a while. He studied the area and after few years set up a small eatery. It grew a lot. He bought up a place and made the hotel. He bought adjacent land and built his house. It was beautiful with Indian and Australian flags fluttering. He put up his kids in boarding school. One is into engineering and one wants medicine.
When I was leaving, he asked me if I knew someone who needed a house on rent. I told I can ask some hospital staff. He said "come". Took me to his house, made me sit in his car and showed me a house for rental. He dropped me back in my hospital.
The dude was bound to succeed. The initiative he takes, the social skills he has, his ambition and genuinely set him a class apart. This is the success story of entrepreneurship, that even skilled professionals can't match.
Proud of this brother.

Grateful to The Global Indian for featuring my journey in their Cover Story today.
From a PhD in Chemical Engineering in South Carolina, to bioinformatics research in Singapore, teaching at Keio University in Japan, building an analytics startup, and now running Mysore Polymers and Rubber Products (yes, our rubber bellows fly on every PSLV and GSLV launch!) — it has been a winding road.
Through all of it, one passion has stayed constant: India's past, and the stories that never made it into our school textbooks. Why don't more of us know about Lachit Borphukan at Saraighat, Marthanda Varma at Colachel, or the Chola navy's voyages across Southeast Asia?
That question has led to five books in six years — The Battle of Vathapi trilogy, Daughter of Two Rivers, and now Mahakshana: Moments That Shaped the Mahabharata, which pauses at the defining moments when choices were made and destinies changed forever.
In the interview, I talk about how Amish's Meluha trilogy first pushed me to write, the history teacher who made us copy Ashoka's inscription in the original script, and how I manage 10,000 words a week alongside a day job.
Thank you, Vikram Sharma , for a wonderful conversation.

As a neurosurgeon, let me tell you how frightening this injury actually is - an occipital compound depressed skull fracture treated with a WIDE craniotomy (outer staple line).
What's scary isn't the fracture; it's what's adjacent to the damaged skull. The axe blows (that tree-branch scar at the center) hit right over the posterior superior sagittal sinus, a large vein that runs lengthwise between the 2 cerebral hemispheres and carries blood from the brain to the heart.
Penetrating injuries to the sinus can carry upwards of a 40% morbidity/mortality - partially because a transection of the sinus can be difficult to repair and can result in extreme blood loss, venous air embolism, or thrombosis - all of which can be fatal.
There's scary, and then there's the "you go to elevate the fracture and risk unroofing the sinus, losing 2 liters of blood in a minute" scary.
The surgeons likely had their hands full and did an amazing job. Divine providence called many heroes into service that day. Damn fine work.
धन्यवाद

Thiru Annamalai avl…
1. You quote Modi ji from 2011 but leave out what he was reacting to. That night, police lathi-charged sleeping women and children at a peaceful fast in Ramlila Maidan at midnight. In 2026, CJP protesters jumped barricades and defied orders, and India Today reports 20 FIRs against them. Putting the two side by side insults the victims of 2011.
2. You warn that people "could be jailed indefinitely." The CJP leaders were out within days, through the same legal process you call broken. Your own post admits they've been released. That isn't tyranny. It's the system working.
3. Delhi has had ACPs acting as Special Executive Magistrates since its police commissionerate began in 1978. Every government since, Congress and AAP included, has used the same powers. Discovering the problem only now, and only when it's the CJP, is selective outrage.
4. You call their tactics "misguided" yourself. Misguided tactics that break the law bring legal consequences, for everyone. BJP karyakartas have faced them too.
5. You ask whether the BJP is giving the CJP free publicity. A long post from a former state president repeating their talking points does more for them than any effigy ever could.
6. You remind us you left the BJP on June 5. But the BJP never stopped you from asking questions. It gave you the platform that made your questions worth hearing. Calling the karyakartas still working on the ground "attackers" doesn't make your questions sharper. It only shows which side you've chosen.
7. The UNHRC, Al Jazeera, the BBC and a whole network of non-state actors are ganging up against Modi ji and India right now. Is this really the moment to show your soft side, and only to these anarchists? Timing is a choice too, and this one helps the people who want India weakened.
Ask every question you like. Just don't mistake amplifying one side for speaking truth to power.
In 2011, then Gujarat Chief Minister Thiru @narendramodi avl said that if his hands were not tied, he would have gone to Delhi and waged war against the central government. Thiru Narendra Modi avl made this statement in response to the police crackdown on the peaceful anti-corruption campaign led at Ramlila Maidan, Delhi. In my opinion, what the Hon PM said then was absolutely right, and there is nothing wrong about it.
Today, you could be jailed indefinitely; your surety bonds could be rejected; and, surprisingly, a Special Executive Magistrate will play circles around you when he/ she is empowered to deal with preventive bond cases.
If you question the violation of due process of law in a democracy, you would be called names, and a barrage of attacks would follow, including being labelled a Foreign Agent.
Ever since I asked the Central Government to speak with the protestors during the NEET exam protests, I have faced constant attacks, but I let them pass because I felt it was important to focus on the issues on the ground in Tamil Nadu. I also, in a way, enjoyed this as it would quickly remove the tag of me being a BJP B Team and sent to TN as a Dhurandhar 😍
Yesterday during a press meeting, I questioned the Delhi Police’s methods of detaining protestors of CJP.
Since yesterday, the attacks have resumed, as expected. For some in the BJP, let me make this categorically clear, in case you have selective amnesia: I left the BJP on June 5, 2026.
As I mentioned yesterday, I might not agree with the tactics of the CJP, and I think many of theirs are misguided. But if you ask me whether they have a right to oppose/argue/protest on an issue that they think is important?
I would categorically say - YES.
So, I would like people to ask the questions again, even if it makes some of them uncomfortable, and I wish the Central Government would answer them instead of resorting to whataboutism.
1.How was Jantar Mantar denotified as a protest site as per a standing order of the Ministry of Home Affairs after a letter was handed over by CJP seeking permission to conduct a protest?
2.How long can we have a system that gives powers to an Asst Commissioner of Police as a Special Executive Magistrate who rules over whether to keep someone in preventive detention? The ACP of Delhi Police stands over the trial where Delhi Police is the complainant against the accused CJP. Now you know which way the wind will blow.
3.On October 19th, why did the Special Executive Magistrate, aka ACP of Delhi Police, deliberately arrive late for the bail hearing of those who were arrested from Jantar Mantar on October 13th and recuse himself, saying there is a threat to his life? Is this some kind of a joke?
4.Why were 8 sureties rejected, and why was the person who came for surety subjected to cross-examination by the Special Executive Magistrate?
5. Any action taken on pellet gun usage by the Delhi police or other actions on Delhi police who have violated the standard operating procedures against the protesters during the NEET fiasco stir?
Has no BJP karyakarta in Delhi violated any bond conditions during the previous Congress and AAP governments. I trust the same Delhi police were then also when barricades were jumped and orders disobeyed? How were they dealt with then? Like this?
Definitely - NO.
Now I hear that the detained functionaries of CJP were released by SEM after the case reached the High Court.
I also recently saw a cockroach effigy burned as part of the Dusshera celebrations. Out of curiosity, I tried to find out who is giving this free publicity at a National level. No surprises here. It was led by a BJP MLA, Ashok Goel.
My question again is: is the BJP opposing the CJP or giving it free publicity? Does it want the opposition votes to split by making CJP a bigger player? At this rate, the CJP couldn’t have asked for a better PR team, even if it had paid for one! (1/2)

Supreme Court says “Temple property belongs to the deity, not the government!”
Supreme Court has declared a gift deed transferring temple inam land to the Tamil Nadu government NULL AND VOID.
The Court ruled that the state is a custodian and regulator of temple property, not its owner.

Deva >>> TM Krishna.
Deva was an unassuming honest man who came up in life after 40, with no connections or money, trusting only his talent. Made numerous devotional albums before cinema entry. Deva was a practicing Hindu, always appeared with a Thiruneeru and Kungumam. Never got due credits for his songs or awards he thoroughly deserved. His song was played at Singapore PM Nathan's state funeral, but not a single Tamil media covered it. Never once played his victim card even if he had every right to. Always dressed in traditional whites clothes as a cultured artist.
TMK is a pretentious rich privileged nepokid who was born with a platinum spoon. He misused the ethos of Carnatic music to sing tributes on EVR who had abuzed Lord Rama. TMK wanted discourse to get to a point where Rama is equalised with a palm tree or a dog. TMK moved courts against singing the full Vande Mataram. Also lobbied for an award named after MS amma who he anyway does not revere. Always tries to be in the limelight with constant media coverage from The Hindu. TMK Does not wear religious symbols, but wears black shirt and lungis to political concerts before singing eulogies on EVR in Abashruti.
It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be. Deva >>> TM Krishna.

FREE CIVICS LESSON FOR SOME SPOKESPERSONS:
Regime change means forcible or coercive replacement of the entire political system—its rules, institutions, constitution. Coups, revolutions, foreign interventions.
Democratic elections produce only a change of government. Same regime, same Constitution. 2004 and 2014 were power transfers, not regime changes. EVMs counted votes within the system.
Learn the difference. Stop the loose talk that misleads. Repeat till it enters your thick head.

🚨 THEFT OF PEACOCK IDOL AT SRI KAPALEESWARAR TEMPLE, CHENNAI
#JusticeAravindKumar: Is there any other religion in Tamil Nadu where state-appointed officers sit inside religious institutions and make an inventory? Be it Christian, Jain, Buddhist, Muslim or any other religion?
Supreme Court presses Tamil Nadu counsel for an answer.
Counsel: Maybe the Waqf Act has a provision. There is a mutawalli, perhaps.
#JusticeAravindKumar: But that is an elected person, not state representation.
Petitioner-in-person Rangarajan Narasimhan (@OurTemples): No other religion has an Act that allows the state executive to sit inside a temple and manage it.
