True. Also true: the system ultimately doesn't care because it has architected a dispensatory model for the profession; we are "replaceable" organizational widgets. Our skill set was our competitive advantage. Not anymore. Professional licensure was the last defensible moat. That has eroded through APP scope creep, community hospitals leveraging H1B to import a lower-cost workforce, and efforts to shift clinical decision-making to AI algorithms. At this point, the few points of leverage revolve around covering calls and still being the principal gatekeepers for signing off on clinical decisions. (Someone has to take the fall.) Being a physician has slowly morphed into being a skinsuit for large corporatized conglomerates, often helmed by academic lightweights who couldn't carry water for the premed autists laser-focused on getting into medical school; yet are still expected to bend the knee to their agenda. I cannot imagine what intelligent, high-functioning individual wouldn't resent this and not want out.
people outside of medicine have no idea the reality that nearly every doctor over 50- and maybe 45 would quit medicine tomorrow because of what it has become. consider that @brian_blase this is THE 'canary in the coal mine' (the canaries are already dropping like flies) -- maybe you can bring this up during the panel you are moderating soon...?

BREAKING: The average cost of a family’s annual health insurance premium in the US is up +$1,303 YoY, or +5%, to a record $28,303. This marks the 4th consecutive annual increase of at least +$1,300. Over this period, the average annual premium for family coverage has surged +$5,884, or +26%. To put this into perspective, CPI inflation has risen +13% over the same period, or half as much. Since 1999, the average health insurance premium for a family has soared +$22,494, or +387%. This represents an average annual growth rate of +6.1%, well above CPI inflation at +2.6% over the same period. Health insurance has never been more expensive.

This guy is the archetype of the American persona and literally represents what I consider to be the best attribute of being an American. Where I live, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of men like him -grounded, unpretentious, pragmatic men of action. Thank God, people like this exist.
Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot. Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives. He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter. "I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..." "I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."

"I do not hate him, I want to respond by building."
Until India develops, based on the talents of our own people, we will not find true respect in the world, no matter whether right, left or center is in charge anywhere. The racist shows us a mirror and asks: "if your nation is smart, why do you want to come here". I do not hate him, I want to respond by building. Some Indians agree with the racist and think India will never develop. I do not hate them either, I want to respond by building. Companies and nations are built by people who believe it can be done. The urgent national priority is to build, build and build.

My acknowledged superpower is being able to walk into a room with a family I've never met and make a deep enough emotional connection to have the "end-of-life" conversation under the most dire of circumstances. But yeah, I like making pitch decks too.
My secret skill I share at dinner parties is that I deeply love building fundraising decks. Between myself and a few amazing designer friends I’ve built about 40 for health tech companies seed thru series D. The combo of narrative storytelling + numbers is my happy place.

The lack of affordability is a direct consequence of passing the Affordable Care Act in 2010.
Replying to @larry_levitt
Changes to the ACA and Medicaid leading to millions losing coverage and increases in health care expenses legitimately occupy a lot of political focus. But, lack of affordability for the 157 million people with employer coverage should get more attention. kff.org/private-insurance/wo…

I deeply admire Poland's strength and spirit. (They defiantly rode out to meet Hitler's tanks on horseback.) Today, I learned a little something about the historical ties between it and India: Between February and May of 1944, Indian and Polish troops were brothers-in-arms at Monte Cassino, fighting as part of the same Allied campaign against Nazi Germany. The 4th and 8th Indian divisions joined with General Władysław Anders’s Polish II Corps to open the route to the Liri Valley. At the completion of the battle, Polish forces raised their flag. Many had found their way to Italy via Iran from India, seeking asylum alongside almost 6000 Polish refugees, who were offered shelter by the ruler of Nawanagar, Maharaja Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja. He became known as "The Good Maharaja." Warsaw has a square and a monument in his honor. He looked after nearly 1000 Polish children who were orphaned or separated from their parents. The children received food, clothing, medical care, schooling, and opportunities to rebuild an ordinary childhood. They had Polish books, religious observances, scouting, sports, music, and theatrical performances. The Polish children even had a name for him - they called him "Bapu" (father). The Maharaja funded the entire endeavor. There is a beautiful summary about the Polish settlements in India at Balachadi and Valivade. Truly wonderful story. artsandculture.google.com/st… @JackPosobiec, it's worth a read.

How does the government plan to provide the healthcare it's guaranteeing? (Mr. El-Sayed will probably have to learn how to actually practice medicine.)
🚨 JUST NOW: El-Sayed confirms Medicare for All would get rid of private insurance plans Abdul: “If the government is everybody’s insurer, it’s basically buying [healthcare] for everybody” Host: "So you remove the insurance companies and government is now the insurer?" Abdul: "Government becomes the insurer" Abdul goes on to say insurance companies will be allowed to offer "luxury products for a couple folks"

I see they select Rhodes Scholars the way the Nobel Committee selects Peace Prize recipients.
GM just announced the biggest stock buyback in automotive industry history. Instead of investing in their workers or new product lines, GM executives are robbing from the future to pay themselves and their shareholders today. Stock buybacks should be illegal.

Let me explain reality… if you have but sixty seconds: They were targeting Elon They were targeting him with fake charges because the socialist-industrial complex is terrified that he would expose their long grift. They came after him for the Model 3 and Elon’s claims around its potential. That potential was realized, and it became, along with the Model Y, the best-selling electric vehicle ever created. These were fake charges to try to stop somebody from building the best category-defining product. Let that sink in: that's how evil these motherfuckers are. The loooooong grift has been exposed: socialist grifters are stealing our tax dollars to fund fringe lunacy, NGOs and government programs without oversight or audits. They’re parasites incapable of creating any product or service that has to compete in the open market. Elon creates a couple of cutting-edge products each year, and half of them succeed. Some of them actually change the world. Some of them fail brutally. It's called capitalism. It's called creation. This is what moves the human condition forward: trying things. Trying really hard things. Socialists come for the people building valuable products and services — that’s the tell Keep your eye out for the people who've created nothing and risked nothing, but who are attacking the people who risk everything to create Something. That's the tell.
Kara Swisher says Elon Musk might be in jail right now if Kamala Harris was in office and “he knows what’s coming” if Democrats take back power.
