When NASA was created, Robert Gilruth became head of the Space Task Group, tasked putting a man in space before the Soviets NASA hired 25+ Canadian engineers
According to Gilruth, these men were a βGod-sendβ to NASA

A friendly reminder to my fellow Canadians that if you wish you can now wear a Flanders poppy to demonstrate your support to military personnel of the past & present.
Donations to the @RoyalCdnLegion are appreciated as the funds support programs for veterans & their families.

They're all Canadian. Why don't you have the stones to run yourself?

Security redesigned our guest Wi-Fi.
Visitors must now authenticate using a company-managed account.
I asked how someone who doesn't work here gets a company account.
"Their host provisions a temporary identity."
Fine.
Tuesday we had six investors visiting.
I created six temporary accounts.
By 9:30 AM, all six had received:
Mandatory cybersecurity training.
An employee handbook.
A calendar invitation to the quarterly all-hands.
An email asking them to set their professional development goals.
Apparently HR's onboarding system automatically picks up new company identities.
I told HR.
They said temporary accounts should be excluded.
I asked them to exclude them.
"That requires a change request."
One investor completed the cybersecurity training because he thought it was required to access Wi-Fi.
He scored 60%.
HR emailed his sponsor recommending additional training.
At 5 PM, the accounts expired.
This triggered our automated employee offboarding workflow.
All six investors received exit surveys.
One was asked to return his company laptop.
Another received an email asking why he had decided to leave the organization.
Our CEO called me furious.
"Why are investors being treated like employees?"
I explained that Security requires guests to be employees before they're allowed to be guests.
He's meeting with Security tomorrow.
The investors have already been invited to their exit interviews.

π¨π¦ ON THIS DAY IN CANADIAN HISTORY
October 25, 1923 β A Canadian Discovery Wins the Nobel Prize!
On this day in 1923, Canadian physician Dr. Frederick Banting and Scottish-born physiologist Dr. J.J.R. Macleod were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of insulin β one of the greatest medical breakthroughs of the 20th century.
Just two years earlier, Banting and medical student Charles Best had begun their groundbreaking experiments at the University of Toronto, working under Macleodβs supervision. With the crucial assistance of biochemist James Collip, the team developed a treatment that would forever change the lives of people living with diabetes.
Before insulin, a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes was often a death sentence, particularly for children. By 1922, the first successful treatments were giving desperately ill patients a second chance at life.
But the Nobel Prize announcement wasnβt without controversy.
Banting was furious that his young research partner, Charles Best, had been overlooked. In recognition of Bestβs contribution, Banting shared half his prize money with him. Macleod likewise shared his winnings with Collip.
Despite the disagreements, all four men had played important roles in a discovery that would save millions of lives around the world.
More than a century later, insulin remains one of Canadaβs greatest contributions to modern medicine.
A remarkable achievement born in a Toronto laboratory β and a proud chapter in Canadian history. π¨π¦

Elon Musk could have spent the $500 MILLION in political donations on helping people.
He could have fed children. Housed families. Made their lives better. Added stability so they can grow on their own.
Instead he chose to buy politicians to save his own ass.
