At @CUNYMed's #WhiteCoatCeremony, I welcomed the incoming cohort of PA students and congratulated third-year medical students on the beginning of clinical rotations.
I remember what it felt like to be in their shoes, and I shared reflections from my own ceremony.
✨Last night we celebrated our Student Clinician #WhiteCoatCeremony, a milestone event that marked the start of clinical training for our newest physician assistant students and third-year medical students. 🩺🎉

In 2020 @MonteauRachelle was on the cover of @TheCancerLetter as a rising star in @MSKCancerCenter SCORE program.
From our 1st meeting when she was barely out of high school, to her accelerated undergrad, to her recent @CUNYMed graduation... she continues to shine bright! 💫🤩

At our recent Bone Academy event, we were reminded of the power of mentorship when Dr. Elisabeth Elsinger had the opportunity to reconnect with Fatimah, a medical student at @CUNYMed.
The two first met at a Perry Initiative event hosted by Montefiore Einstein Orthopedic Surgery in February 2020, when Fatimah was still in high school. She said that that the Perry Initiative experience was powerful and helped solidify her decision to pursue medicine.
Now 6 years later Fatimah and Dr. Elsinger are volunteering at the Bone Academy event together, working to inspire the next generation of aspiring physicians.

This morning, Montefiore Einstein Orthopedics hosted Bone Academy, welcoming high school students from the Bronx who are curious about careers in the health sciences.
Led by Dr. Karkenny , Dr. Mackey, and Dr. Badrinath, the students had the chance to learn more about orthopedics, ask thoughtful questions, and see what medicine looks like beyond the classroom.
We’re grateful to the volunteers, surgical techs, physician assistants, device sales reps, and orthopedic faculty from @MontefioreNYC @EinsteinMed @CUNYMed and OrthoPediatrics who helped teach hands-on workshops and shared their experiences with the participants.
It was a great morning of learning, mentorship, and inspiration.
