Completed a personal project this week. It is small and niche and probably only interesting to three or four people in the world, but it represents about six months of intentional AI skill building (agentic coffee wrangling) and I am quite pleased with the results. I trained a lora for a the turbo z image model entirely locally on my Macbook pro. The lora captures style of a single Jewish artist from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century when the world’s obsession with German culture was waxing. The style is Jugendstil (lit. Young style) called Art Nouveau in English (franklish?) I publish both the lora and the pipeline used to create it. Links below.

Right now my prediction is that the Arab parties in the Israeli elections are overstated in the exit polling

Yes everyone except the Iranians
Obama on Iran: Let's think about this Iran war. The original rationale was, we're going to go in there and get them to give up their nuclear program, their nuclear weapons. Now, the thing was, Iran didn't have nuclear weapons because I had put a deal in place that everybody acknowledged kept them from getting nukes. And I didn't have to fire a missile to do it. I just had to engage in diplomacy.

Nothing could possibly go wrong here
My friends were all talking about prepping so I made a survival LLM. A free app that runs an AI mdoel plus 1.5 million offline articles (medical guides, FEMA, survival manuals, wikipedia) entirely on your computer. No internet needed. brangus.io/survival-llm

It is important to read good words written by literary genius humans... "She was withal a little of a coquette, as might be perceived even in her dress, which was a mixture of ancient and modern fashions, as most suited to set off her charms. She wore the ornaments of pure yellow gold, which her great-great-grandmother had brought over from Saardam; the tempting stomacher of the olden time, and withal a provokingly short petticoat, to display the prettiest foot and ankle in the country round."

This is a real concern that I had not thought of…

I’ve heard several OAI people say there are unfixable bugs in hardware that are exploitable by AI models directly speaking machine code so even if we could solve software that’s not enough. We need defense to move faster than offense if that’s even possible we may just have a new normal that requires adapting to insecure software (bank transfers require going into a branch and taking a dna test 🤣😬)

I hate the Anthropic 80M loss headline As most of it is just accounting It’s only really an 8M loss

I think this is a silly argument Everything that we know in science was considered too complicated until some genius described it simply More likely the universe is actually quite simple in its principles and complex in the application
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.

Hey @grok if you were to think about this as tax avoidance With their growth projections and expected contributions, how much money is anthropic siphoning away from the public (government) and installing in their own ngo (public benefit corp)
We’re committing a portion of Anthropic’s shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. It will start off with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the company’s value over a set baseline, we can contribute up to an extra 2%, subject to our board’s discretion. In total, this means that roughly 20% of Anthropic’s shares are committed to the public good. Our co-founders have already pledged to donate 80% of their equity, and around half our employees are donating a portion of their equity as part of a donation matching program we’ve run since our founding. In the post below, we share more details about our new fund. anthropic.com/news/public-be…

This is a great use of AI, I am sure it will be banned in the next Congress

Wonder if you could do this to your printer? Hmmmmm
Vibe coded my parents' TV this afternoon! It was showing a sponsored ad before you could even get to Netflix. Gave Claude Code the model number, it found the TV on wifi, removed 25 Xiaomi packages and wrote a new launcher. Looks like an Apple TV now lol

I really feel like there are some game designers that could create an interesting game here You have an underlying strategy that affects your group If you follow it you get nine resources and are penalized when you violate it You could abstract it so that it isn’t clearly the current invasion of Europe Just make it a good game

Game theory experiment Options: violent aggression Non violent aggression Sue for peace Group 1: always choose violent aggression if possible Choose non violent aggression if violent aggression is not possible If in trouble and you need time to regroup resources sue for peace Group 2: If group 1 sues for peace always sue for peace Sue for peace is possible Non violent aggression if possible Violent aggression only allowed to combat violent aggression and must be proportional to the instigating act After 1000 rounds, who wins?

"All businesses owned by Jews were set on fire." Kristallnacht is being repeated in the West, but the people from NatCon want to scold you for using the bad word, antisemitism. Never again is now.
French journalist Paul Amar: “They came prepared. They had the addresses of town halls. They had addresses of Jewish shop owners. In a street in Marseille, all businesses owned by Jews were set on fire. Businesses run by Muslims weren’t”

The cycle of violence in France must stop. Israel is calling on BOTH sides to show restraint, and engage in negotiations for a two-state solution.

Finally listened to this on the way to work this week and it is already helping my code base and I have barely started using the approach. Thanks @poteto
here's how i shipped 2,500 PRs last month to production this was originally supposed to be for Cursor Compile in London. i couldn't make it since i was livestreaming for Grok @Bot Galaxy so i'm making it available for free here on X! watch it on 2x speed, i talk slowly

not to get too sentimental, but i am truly humbled and grateful that so many of you have decided to follow me. i've said it before, i truly owe my professional career and all the opportunities that have come my way by just posting on @X thanks @mvanhorn for the nostalgia trip!
TL;DR of my new article: who Lauren Tan (@poteto) really is, and how the engineer behind Grok Bot went from 31K to 198K followers in ten weeks. She has been at Cursor for less than seven months, not even long enough to hit a typical one-year vesting cliff. In that time @elonmusk has reposted, quoted, or replied to her at least 21 times. 🇸🇬 A teenager in Singapore whose dad gave her Photoshop at 15, then a finance degree where her first program was an Excel macro 🎤 Her tweets got her invited to speak at EmberConf, and her talks got her DockYard, Netflix, and the React team ⚛️ Sole author of the React Compiler Beta post, co-author of React Compiler 1.0 🐶 Binnie, her bug-fixing Slack bot, helped inspire Grok Bot because she is "a fairly lazy person" 🏗️ She rebuilt Grok @bot on Dune, her agent-first framework, in more than 600 PRs 🚀 Her 2,500 PRs talk has 3.9M views: "You can't spawn 100 agents when you don't even trust the output of one agent." 🌌 Grok Bot Galaxy, a 72-hour livestream building a company with @grok and @bot, which Elon quoted to 30M views 🥔 pstack, where the P is for potato Caveat: she is the first to say she did not build Grok Bot alone. "I wouldn't say I built it all."
