The 2026 @ConnectNPC Connect Festival of Unity brought together nearly 2,000 sporting youths from Cape Town and the United Kingdom, and showcased how #sportfordevelopment can bridge social divides and inspire the next generation.

'How do I become a Springbok? What's the best place for me to reach that goal? At the moment, it’s the Lions.'
Haashim Pead is the Bo-Kaap hero signed by @RocNationSI before starting a URC game.

@ConnectNPC You nearly had two ex-students scoring the winning try in yesterday's derby, Haashim Pead did it in Durban and Lukhanyo Vokozela moved the ball to Ntuthuko Mchunu in the driving mall just before Ntuthuko scored that one. 🤣

The Rugby Academy I was referring to is here on X @ConnectNPC
Lukhanyo Vokozela
Dobbo told us tonight a bit of the story of Lukhanyo, another typical desperate story of gang violence and growing up poor and how hungry he is to make it. He came through the Ingram Rugby Academy in the Cape, he joined them because he know he will get a meal/day. Hey man these stories make me moeg. We must do better as a nation. Looking better after our young kids.

It’s easy to be strong when the winds are in your favour, but true strength of character is shown when the earth has fallen beneath you. Comebacks like this inspire more than tries sometimes. All the best @Seabelo_Senatla, we see you man.

Over the last few years, I have teamed up @RYOBI_Africa to tell some unique sporting stories for their #WontQuitCrew
Looking back on them now, it has become a pretty cool platform for local underdog stories:

Moving with the needs of their participants has allowed @ConnectNPC to be uniquely successful.
Not every player can become a pro out of high school, so the partnership in creating the Connect NTK club was pivotal.

So few players get to transition from talented youngster to professional player. No matter the background.
The story of Akha Mjawule is an unlikely one, but his early success at @BlueBullsRugby vindicates the efforts of @ConnectNPC.

With the constant need to expand and pivot through covid, @ConnectNPC struck up a prosperous partnership with @BosmansdamHigh.
Something that not only changed the school's rugby, but also grew Connect's greater sporting ecosystem.
