I don't want school districts to be run at all
These guys whine about superintendent salaries because they want school districts to be poorly run. School districts operate on a budget of hundreds of millions of dollars a year. You can’t find someone qualified to run an enterprise of that size if you pay peanuts.

Christians are interesting because they’ll say things like ‘Lord be with you mighty man of valor’ and you look at who they’re talking to and it’s just Dave.

BREAKING: A missing memory card discovered in southwest Georgia could cost Democrats a seat in the state House and narrow their newly won majority before they even take power. Once the votes were uploaded, Republican state Rep. Gerald Greene went from trailing Democrat Harry James by 58 votes to leading by 262. bit.ly/4kBT1NF

You can write a novel in a year with a few hours of free time a week. Source: me
Writing a novel is such a funny thing to do. Sure let me spend three to five years making up a bunch of stuff that nobody is gonna read. That’s the ticket

I’m all for championing excellence over mediocrity, but it is a mistake to imply that academic achievement is the only measure of it. Jocks and prom queens aren’t the antithesis of merit and striving, and in some ways, their arenas are more “real” than academic curriculums. Fight passivity and low standards!

A chat with @DavidRoomeAuth got me thinking about those who find religion useful as a "social technology." They know religion's power rests in a core who actually, you know, believe all that shit. But they don't believe. What to call this dilemma? Dawkins' Paradox?

"The numbers were wrong but my speculation-induced ragebait remains"
Numbers on this are based on an incorrect understanding of the exit polling, but the fact remains that far too many evangelicals sat this one out because our pastors failed to communicate the importance of voting against the left.

Mute almost everyone with >50K followers Today's offense: unable or unwilling to read
Only 17% of professed Christians voted in the midterms?! Tens of millions of you need to repent & pastors need to do a better job encouraging & equipping their congregations to vote. “So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:17 We need to be better stewards of this nation founded upon Christianity.

If this is true, this is the saddest part.

In looking at causes for tonight’s results, one important data point—in the 2022 midterms, around 24% of white evangelical Christians (the most reliably conservative bloc of religious voters) voted. In 2026, only 17% did. In other words, a significant amount of America’s salt decided not to have flavor when it comes to elections. And when that happens, it fails to preserve. nbcnews.com/politics/2026-el…

I'm rescinding my "block any randos that annoy me" policy and muting instead because I heard that muting punishes in the algorithm harder. Another upside: I can curate lists of mutees and organize by offense

A couple of technologies that I scoffed at before using myself were wireless headphones and keyless ignition. I sometimes wonder what else I'm missing out on.

The really cool thing about Yetis which I didn't realize until I got one is that the slider is magnetic. It is extremely satisfying to click open and closed and trivial to clean.
