@neuronerdSB was typically excellent, I was my usual adequate self. The work seemed to go down well!

My first bit of HS2 NIMBY-ism: got lost on a run due to a load of paths changing since I last ran there 10 years ago! Can you tell where I was flailing around a waterlogged field?

We had teams per level to develop assessments and were open with who marks what (with integrated assessment it's all team marked!) so before a formal workload allocation model was brought in for the uni we made sure all colleagues had about the same marking in a transparent way.

For learning outcomes we use backwards program design: who's the programmes for, what do they need to do, how do we assess it (at each level), so what're the learning outcomes? We focussed the assessments on skills (analysis, evaluation, communication) rather than just knowledge.

We won an #advanceHE CATE award for this kind of assessment and you can read about it here: advance-he.ac.uk/knowledge-h… Or I can talk your ear off about it! Can you tell I'm enthusiastic about it?

This means students can't learn in silos and colleagues have to know what we're all teaching! It leads to stronger students who can apply rather than just regurgitate knowledge and a stronger team of academics who're all well versed in each others subjects (it isn't that hard!)

Integrated Programme Development (IPA) is an great way to get students to apply knowledge across subjects and staff to work together. On my programme academics teach Genetics, Cell Biology and Physiology but the assessment needs integration of all those and it's marked by us all!
