🎯 Memories of blue helmets and soft power wins –but those days are far behind Canada now. Canada's post WWII foreign policy was deeply rooted in multilateralism, and that led the modern model of UN peacekeeping. Canada's strategic use of its soft power (built on and leveraged through its deep ties and trust with the United States and United Kingdom, and the respect of many other G7s) –Canada was often tapped to help resolve major geopolitical crises. The Iranian hostage crisis likely the most recognizable for many. For decades, the "blue helmet" was a central to Canada's national identity on the world stage...and something most of us used to separate ourselves from America -not healthcare. Those days are over. Canada is weak and fearful.
China. Qatar. Turkey. You're forging a partnership with the world's worst abusers of human rights.

Let me introduce you to Canada's new and second "strategic partner", Turkey 🇹🇷
🚨 THOUSANDS PROTEST ERDOGAN’S CRACKDOWN ON PRESS FREEDOM Thousands rally in Istanbul and Ankara over arrests, censorship and media shutdowns. At least 3,000 gathered in Istanbul. Eleven journalists have been jailed in two months. Police recently raided Halk TV, halted broadcasts and installed a government administrator. Protesters chant: “We will not be silenced. Enough is enough!”

Another "win" for Toronto police. The bigger and quite frankly scarier issue resulting from Toronto Police actions is now the fraying of trust in police and what that means in the larger context. This isn't solely a Toronto police problem. My trust in both police and our courts has also eroded for good reason. Bad guys: 1000 Good guys: 0
Toronto police removed Brad Bradford campaign signs from the area in a Jewish Toronto neighbourhood where antizionist protesters rally every weekend. After the protest, cops put the signs back. The woman filming asks: is this not illegal?

Fantastic. Watch 👇
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon pushes back after being asked why America’s CEOs are afraid to criticize President Trump: “I’ve said what I think. What the hell else do you want me to say?” 🇺🇸 Interviewer: “I’m genuinely struck by the unwillingness of CEOs in America to say anything critical. There’s a climate of fear in your country. Would you agree with that?” Jamie Dimon: “The Davos intellectual elite. I’ve been coming to Davos all these years, listening to chatter and stuff like that. Has it done a good job making the world a better place? We get together and talk. What do you want me to do? I have strong views. Some of the things Trump has done are good, and some are not. I’m not a tariff guy. Do I use it in certain cases? Yes. I think they should change their approach to immigration. I’ve said it. What the hell else do you want me to say? I’m trying to have a conversation.”

👇👇👇 Eby's budget's eye watering debt was the opening chapter. How the NDP amassed it so quickly is about to be revealed. But pull this $1B “accounting error” thread and get ready for it to unravel far more. We're going to see it all. Hold onto to your hats ladies and gents. Incompetence? Not if the NDP knowingly concealed the truth.
.@LDoerkson said today interest payments are "choking the economy" & commits to an independent investigation into BC's finances. Said the $1B accounting error by the @bcndp has him "terrified" at what else they might discover.

In the ongoing litigation of Ottawa’s inability or principled refusal to understand how conservatism differs by province, particularly here in the West –and what makes British Columbia unique, I present Exhibit 2,999. Discovery remains a foreign concept.

Canada is losing its morality. According to @freedomhouse "Erdoğan controls all executive functions, often rules by decree, and makes all major policy decisions. Since 2016, he has overhauled Turkey’s ministries and agencies, purging tens of thousands of civil servants and replacing them with political loyalists". Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Listen now to my latest conversation with Professor Braun on Canada's cozying up to Erdogan and what it means for the future of our country: agpiworld.com/state-of-affai… @CdnPressNews @CanadaFP @CanadianPM @Canada

Blatant bias at the @CBC by headlining this news editorial by accusing Israel of shooting and killing two Palestinians - neglecting to state at the outset that in fact it was the Palestinians who had shot and killed 2 Israelis and wounded others at the outset. Very disappointing. @CBCNews @CBCToronto
CBC deliberately inverted the story They opened with: “Israel has closed off the West Bank after Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinians near Hebron.” The actual sequence—that two armed men from Hebron drove up, got out of the car, and opened fire on the checkpoint, triggering a 20-minute gun battle in which the attackers were killed—was buried nearly two and a half minutes in. Only then did viewers learn about the large quantity of weapons and ammunition, Israeli officials saying the pair were planning a major attack on civilians, and Hamas praising the “high-impact operation” while calling for more violence. BBC, CNN, The Washington Post, and The Times of Israel all led with the attack itself. CBC chose not to. This is not neutral sequencing. Leading with the Israeli response while delaying the fact that the dead men initiated a terrorist attack is a classic framing choice that makes the aggressors look like victims—days before Israel’s election @brodiefenlon

The strongest manufacturing industry of the 2020s is the left’s outrage machine. If only we could fully trace the money, and all the places and people it goes to, we’d likely be able to pay down the debt. “We’re tired of the anger and hate. Now get angry. Hate these people. Donate here.” An entire economy of activists, consultants, pundits and professional victims depends on keeping everyone permanently furious —and employed. Peace and understanding? Not with this grievance economy. Think of the payroll. #obama #Democrats
Obama in Michigan: I'm tired of all this anger and division. Also Obama: I want you to stay angry.

Talk about twisting the truth to make it fit your bias. MAGA wasn't the issue. Compromise and competency was. When you post this stuff you lose credibility.
For the international crowd, the Conservative Party of British Columbia won because it purged the more MAGA wing of the party in a civil war.

And this is exactly where British Columbians want to start. Every road —every bad policy, bad spend or why we cant spend begins here. DRIPA, foreign interference and loss of access to services all begin here. What deals where made?
Premier-elect @LDoerkson says he begins transition into gov "with some urgency" and will launch an independent review of BC's finances on day 1. Within first 100 days will also strike commission on how to keep hospital ERs open.

Remember when Ottawa and Toronto conservatives swooned over this guy? Some of us have a red line and refuse to ignore it.
Spare us the sermon, @WabKinew . You're an intellectual and political lightweight with a record of misogyny and a seriously questionable, immoral history. Shame on Manitoba for electing you. And as the interloper you are, let me remind you that you have no business posing as anyone's moral compass. We fired an unethical government whose negligence and nefarious "management" has caused irreparable damage– sold out our rights and freedoms, fuelled division, racism and hate, and devastated British Columbia. Full stop. Be happy for now that we don't have the legislation to grab your buddy Eby to hold him responsible for what he's done to this province. The scandal is what the NDP did with power and always has.

Lorne Doerkson on Wab Kinew’s comments that the BC results “should concern every elected politician” and that being elected is “a responsibility not to be played with”: “Well, I don’t disagree. We should all be concerned. British Columbians voted for change last night and for whatever reason they liked the platform that we put forward. … I’ve always been somebody that the moment I’ve been elected I’ve got to work and for me that isn’t going to change. I intend to get to work right away. I intend to work for British Columbia hard because four years comes quick.” @WabKinew @LDoerkson

Plot twist: the threat was always coming from inside our house. Political gravity strikes again!
It’s interesting that Eby launched his campaign with a fiery tirade against Donald Trump and the existential threats to British Columbia of American imperialism, but not a peep about any of that at the end of the campaign. It’s as if the threat has completely vanished (or wasn’t really a threat in the first place).
